How do we find our range

Gary Diaz

Since I’m the only guitarist in the band

Daniel Torres

Thanks for the sound advice (no pun intended). I’m gonna be playing this tomorrow, so I’ll most likely stick to the rhythm parts of the guitar and maybe flare in some single notes.

Daniel Torres

Just Joined and really enyoying the site, lessons

Gary Diaz

Curious about fitting/changing the key to pair up better with a voice… like the other day on the poetry challenge you chose to use a capo …

Mason

Hey Scott! Thanks for your help last weekend. I’m gonna be performing Valerie by Amy Winehouse and Dreams by Fleetwood Mac. Any advice for performing? I haven’t performed in about 6 months and before that it was probably another 6 months.

Daniel Torres

Hi Scott, The help last week (feeling like I was playing notes instead of music), was fantastic with my practice this week. I feel like I'm playing much more "musically" now. The trick that really did it for me and put me in the right mindset was speaking or singing the lyrics from Eric's song last week and then playing a phrase on the guitar mimicing the tone and pace! Awesome stuff. Question this week is a quick one about string bending technique. I understand bending to a tone I want, but from a mechanics standpoint I seem to be having trouble not getting noise from other strings. For example, if i bend the first string up a whole step, my finger nails will catch the second and or 3rd strings and make a lot of unwanted noise as I release the bend. I'm thinking I need to use the pads of my fingers instead of the tips or is it more muting somehow with the right hand? Thanks!

No more questions - I promise! 😀

And finally... where are the best places on the fretboard to perform double stops?

D'oh!-Ray-Me

Going for hat-trick here... Hendrix rhythms seem to be all over the place but somehow they work. Why is this?

D'oh!-Ray-Me

Also, is it possible to explain/illustrate the idea of syncopation?

D'oh!-Ray-Me

Hi Scott. Are you planning a Caged III series?
