I’ve been working on recognizing chord progressions for the past few weeks. With that, I’ve been really trying to learn songs by ear without looking anything up. I came across a 6-1-7-3 progression that I COULD NOT for the life of me figure out what key it was in, etc. Question: is there a way to help me recognize songs/keys when the first chord is not the 1? Tips and tricks for ear training in general? Thanks!

My question: how do we know when I should move on? Would that be when I practiced so much that I can’t do it wrong or you have a different approach?
