Hey Everyone,
I’m going to be out of town for about about two weeks.
I’ve been working hard on my Music Theory for Guitar II series (just filmed lesson 7 of 9) but when I set aside time to film some extra lessons for my vacation, my attempts fell flat.
So here is a new idea! I'm going to leave you with some fun homework:
Beginning students and new Patrons:
If you’re working away at the beginning lessons like Music Theory for Guitar or CAGED Basics, feel free to say hi in the comments and ask me a question on the Office Hours forum thread! Also, I STRONGLY recommend checking out any Practice Thoughts video that you find interesting. They are designed to help make your lessons more effective and efficient.
INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS
I URGE you to consider trying a Community Challenge (or a few), especially if you've already made it through some of Music Theory Monday. I can’t stress enough how amazing it feels to move from a place of memorizing how things work to actually using music theory to create new sounds. I promise if you try a few Community Challenges you’ll start to see things differently. I’m always so happy to see someone new posting in the Community Challenge section of the forum.
ADVANCED STUDENTS
I have a big challenge for you: Write a whole song. Chords and melody, verses and choruses, maybe an intro and a bridge? Try it out! If you don’t face yourself a singer, try playing your melody on guitar and/or asking someone in the community forum to sing the melody for you!
The only rule is that you can't post something you've already written. It must be a song you've written AFTER this post goes live.
A few of you have already tried out some band collaboration software. Feel free to post about it on the community forum. This is the thread to share your fully written song.
Of course you can just keep carrying on with my courses and lessons if you’ve already got stuff you're working on, but I thought some of you might enjoy some homework.
If you're looking for anything new, check out the following courses:
• Rubiks Cube series to help you understand how to morph CAGED shapes into major, minor, diminished, major 7, dominant 7, minor 7, half diminished, fully diminished
• Roles Series helps you learn how to play with other people (and what to play)

If you have ANY question big or small that you'd like me to tackle in the next Office Hours episode - which should be Thursday, August 8th, please ask me anything on the OFFICE HOURS THREAD over on the Community Forum.

Terry - if I read your question correctly, I think this would be a great concept to tackle in an Office Hours session!
