Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope you're all doing well. I had a nice holiday season and I am very excited to make this a fun and educational year for all my Patrons. Over the past month or so, I've spent some time figuring out how to use Discord, and I think it could be a beneficial addition to my guitar school. Since it integrates automatically, you should have gotten an invite in your email by now. I created an event on Discord for tomorrow at noon to help people figure out how to use it! This is an experiment with a new Patreon feature, so let me know if you're having issues getting into Discord.

What is Discord, you say? And why would it be useful for you?

Well, it's kind of an online forum and a chat room. There are different channels where you can either text chat with people or just use a microphone to have a conversation.

Aside from talking to other Patrons about homework and other concepts you're learning here, I think Discord could be really awesome to find a practice partner, practice performing live, and just generally sharing music you're writing or working on. Community is so important. Also, it has a video option which would allow me to field video questions on Discord during a livestream.

You've automatically been invited to my Discord Server by Patreon, but I'm not exactly clear on how it will notify you. You can access discord from a phone or computer using an app or a browser, but I think you'll have an easier time on an app.

If people can't get in without a link here, let me know, but I think you should have been notified via email that you are now a discord member.
