News: March 2024

GnB renders are still the primary focus. I've hit that point where the current set of images are crashing Daz and breaking the queue after 2-3 renders. This has happened a few times before. Probably even on the same original images. I'm trying to keep an eye on it. There's not much I can really do when I set up renders overnight and it stops after 2 or 3. Regardless, there will still be enough rendered this month for a decent enough update.

DI is progressing quite well. The base functions of combat are all done. There's only 1 skill at the moment, a heal. More will be added over time, of course. The item command doesn't actually work at the moment as there are no functioning items in the game yet. Aside from those minor things, the turn based combat with an ATB system is all functioning exactly as I intend it to. Quite happy with the final result.

I chose to go with turn based combat because the original Serenity Circle was turn based. Although DI is not a 1 to 1 remake, I still want to stay close to the design of the original game. I would have loved to make SC with an ATB system, but RPGMaker was just too much of a hassle. That venture was a lot more realistic with Ren'Py, and thus here we are. Also, how many Ren'Py games have you played with ATB combat? It's nice to be able to do something a bit different.

As I've noted before, combat will be optional. If you just want to LMB through the whole game like many other VNs, you will be able to. Maybe I shouldn't call DI a VN. Something of a hybrid I suppose.

I'm currently working on the gallery, which will be similar to GnB. After that is the quest log and a new type of scene mode. With all of those done, all of the base functionality will be ready. There's still a ton of minor things to tackle after that, though. Things like items, skills, enemies, enemy skills, companions and their stats/skills, player stat/skill points gained on level up, proper visuals, etc.

Anyways, enough chatting. Back to work I go! Vote in the bonus image poll! Stay patient, we're getting closer to DI's first release!

Thank you as always!
