The Patreon Podcast - Episode 19 - Mental Health and 4K PS2 Games

Words! At least 18 of them!

- Dan

Comments

Dan, really appreciate your opening up about a very difficult subject. I am in almost the same shoes, Had IBS for a long time but recently got worse with my latest job. I didn't want to admit it was work anxiety, but after the 3rd hospital visit and 2 weeks with a gastroenterologist, I had accepted it and now am using your method of mentally fighting back, than taking the "happy pills" and the reason is that when I was taking them I would loose my clarity and I need clarity for my job as a Sports Broadcasting engineer, I have to be able to think quickly. Same as you diet or no diet doesn'tchange things so just looking for some answers like you, please continue sharing this as it is really helpful to know you are not alone, also these podcasts can be a type of therapy for you and us.

Kris Notari

As somebody who has been / is in a very similar situation - societies! If your university has them, it's a fantastic way to start down the path towards cracking your shell. It's not for everybody, but it has personally really helped me, but of course a really long way to go.

Strawberry Eve

Thanks for talking about mental health. I'm at the end of my first year of uni and haven't made any friends due to social anxiety. The idea of going to the doctor has always been a strange one for me as even though it could make me more outgoing... That's not me. And that would change who I am. It's a horrible dilemma. And thank you for putting in words why therapy is a silly (for some) concept for social anxiety. If you can, let us know how it's going. I'd like to see how it works

Captain_Cone

Episodes is back on the BBC (5 episodes up atm) if you've not got round to it yet.

Daniel Marshall

Dan if you really like breaking bad for those reasons you should seriously watch the wire as it does many of the things you mentioned whilst having some of the most masterful dialogue in anything ever.

Game of Thrones isn't all that Fantasy. It has some aspects of it but it is mostly in the background. The main focus is the war and the politics surrounding it.

Tyler Kelley

As a fan of Game of Thrones, what you're saying is mostly correct for the TV series. However, the books (A Song of Ice and Fire) are much better in comparison. The TV series focuses on the sex scene, violence, etc. while the books are a lot more character driven and subtle.

Tyler Kelley

Have you seen the game Rolling Line? Seems like something you would like ( <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/754150/Rolling_Line/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://store.steampowered.com/app/754150/Rolling_Line/</a> )

How did you train Regan and Matilda? I'm getting a Weimariener in a month and want to make sure he doesn't get into bad habits.

deadduck456

Also what do you think of the funko ready player one keys?

Your 3rd Testicle

Looking at my WiFi usage in the last month I have used a gig of WiFi on patreon even though I listen to most of the podcast on the go. Your the only person I support on patreon as well

Your 3rd Testicle

You might be interested in a game called Rolling Line that released yesterday - VR train sets

What DS9 have you been watching?

Chloe McNamara-Bates

There's a whole bunch of comments so this will probably be buried but... if you're trying to crisp meat in the oven with spray oil, try rubbing a little baking powder on it. That is all.

Hey Dan!! This is a first for me, I just had to come here to disagree with the Game of Thrones bit in RAAAGEEE (/s). There's a moment of Game of Thrones in the first season where, yes, there is a shocking moment. But, throughout that season, at first watch, you think you're watching a more mature Lord of the Rings or a more medieval drama show. Then the thing happends. And it's not only a dramatic turn in the fiction of the world, it changes the structure of television. Literally, the world of television wasn't the same after that. To end this on another note, take care of yourself, this patron(me that is) won't go anywhere! Also listening to you chat about your anxiety has prepared me mentally for my first counseling next monday, thanks!

Hey Dan, I know you despise Pop Vinyls but have you seen the 4 Monster Hunter figures, the cat one is pretty bad but the Rathalos and Zinogre are lovely and the hunter one itself isn't too bad. If you haven't seen them you should look them up.

I think you're mistaken about Game of Thrones. All the points of your drama are hit in the show, the only reason why you hear about the shock is because the viewership is huge. And you hear from the general audience.

Mark Fletch

Since you talked about wizard schools in games, and the abomination that is Hogwarts Mystery was released, what would you like to see in an ideal wizard school game or part of a game (e.g. Like what would be the focus the social/school dynamic or the magic bits with puzzles etc.)?

Arcane Flame

Dan, we would LOVE a Factorio series. I think half of the fun is figuring out how to set something up yourself, and the other half is looking up how others do it and either going "Oh, so THAT is how you should do it!" or "Dear GOD that gives me anxiety just looking at!"

P.s are we still called procrastinators? ❤️

Scott

Dan! Honest question! How many hours a week do you spend working?

Yep.

Mathieu Marlaire

I don't agree with what you said about Game of Thrones only being about who's going to die next, at all. The show is about the characters and the choices they make. The deaths never happen out of the blue. Every death can be traced back to a whole series of fuck ups the character made in the past and with every fuck up their death becomes more and more inevitable. Exactly like Walt in Braking Bad. Every death moves the plot forward in a very important way and are really important moments of character devolopment for the others. The difference is that GoT doesn't focus everything on a few people like BB but on many different people and the world they live in. Because BB only had a few important characters they could really go extremely deep in to every one of them and spent a lot of time with each one. GoT does this very well too, just not as good as BB and they portray it in a different way. But the books do this a lot better. The shit people talk about after an episode is about who is secretely invloved in what and who's plotting what in wich way. But if fantasy isn't your thing, I might as well be talking to wall.

Mathieu Marlaire

Have you ever watched curb your enthusiasm?

Listen to the anxiety podcast. There are a lot of tips on there, also that therapy phone call is very beneficial, as it helps you understand whether counselling or therapy would be good for you, I also recommend putting dark chocolate and walnuts in your diet as they are magic for anxiety and depression, and using your anxiety as a skill rather than a weakness (I put it in my writing----writing horror and comedy) it will get better, there's alot to learn about it and youre just beginning with that, I think the most vital thing I've learned about anxiety is it can be used as a strength once you learn to stop fighting it, but this comes with time. Good luck, it won't always be this difficult, you're not alone, and there's help all around you. I hope this helped 😊

Rhys connell

The band was Van Halen and they asked for the brown ones to be removed not the blue.

Steven Clinton

OH MY GOD THE NERD³ SYMBOL ON THE TOYS CHANNEL IS DIFFERENT EVERYTIME I NEVER NOTICED AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

CJ

Ahhhhh you answered my question about the cookbook, exciting times. Cheap and healthy would be excelent but I understand this may be a project you never get to do. Look after yourself anyway!

Nathan Malaney

Hey Dan, if you want obscure PS2 era games look at Barnyard, it's also on PC and Gamecube

ollie greenslade

Hey Dan, with God of War just being released and Spider-Man coming later this year, I'm super-tempted to get a PS4 but was wondering what the better option would be, a standard PS4 or the PS4 Pro? Also, would just two games be worth getting a whole new console for?

Parks and rec picks up around season 3, worth sticking it out or just skipping to if you really cant bear it

Hey Dan ! Listening to you talking about all the great British shows (Only Fools, The thick of it, etc) you watch on Netflix, got me wondering if you've ever watched Still Game? If so, do you like it ? If not, you should. It's very funny. Love the Podcasts by the way. Your non-sensical ramblings make long study sessions worth while :) yes I can study properly whilst listening to a podcast. IT COUNTS DAMNIT !

I'm not sure if I like the idea of a Patreon exclusive livestream. I can only speak for myself but I think we are giving a bit of money so everyone can keep enjoying your content. Also, there's all the people who give you money on Twitch for whom it would be a bit unfair to have a livestream they can't access. Maybe a live podcast, we get those anyway and you could answer more questions. Also, if you do the charity livestream, Witch It is a nice game to play with a few people, would be quite fun in the stream I imagine.

Stefan Eisenreich

I understand you. There are so many shows i was told i will enjoy but i just can't. And ive tried. Really. Also factrio should be the game of the year, its been in the making for so long it deserves it. Oh and I will catch up on watching your videos after thesis defence, interviews and exams, so you can get more views. I dont really have a question... bye

Weronika Michalska

Hello Dan, as you said gat out of fell was a waste of time, I'd like to ask you about the character of Gat . he is one if my most hated character but why do people love him??

Ryan Casey

Also you said you are writing something that switched genres, when Stanley Kubrick originally wrote this movie as a serious thriller called red alert, and then it became a satire called dr strangelove or: how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb

Johnflipper5

Also, most people don't think therapy will work on them and usuallllyy it does. Worth considering trying it.

Stan Gaskell

Okay I know full well that A: you know this and B: it probably won't help me telling you, but I just wanted to reiterate to you that the fact you've now identified your problems with anxiety has not changed you. It's easy to mix your self image with any problems you have and confuse them with personality traits, but they're not, and they don't have to define you. If you're noticing your anxiety, that's okay, but also know that it was there before and you were able to be yourself and function as you always do, and that ability within you hasn't changed either. Hope this is useful (if messy) advice

Stan Gaskell

If you don't listen to much current stuff I would recommend j Cole. I enjoy him cause he talks about some real stuff unlike most rappers today

Set List - Stand Up Without A Net is the show (live and tv) that you're thinking of. Good to hear a bit of the Big Yin, saw him on the same tour and once he dealt with the elephant in the room it as a great night. Radio 4 is pretty good with improv comedy games but some of the sketch shows on there are superb. Jigsaw series one is a must listen to (Nat Luurtsema, Dan Antopolski and Tom Craine) available now via Audible.

Daniel Marshall

Dan could you PLEASE come to Dublin if you are going to do the book tour, I’d adore to come to the book tour but if it’s all in England i don’t know if I’ll be able to make it.

Is there any chance you will bring back the podcats? I miss hearing you, Jon, and Matt discuss things

Hey Dan. Have you tried Mad Men in regards to slow moving but character developing drama? I think it's fantastic and has lots of different things that develop over the series.

Hey Dan, I've been watching Steven Universe for the past few days thanks to yours and Rebecca's recommendations and love it! Just wondered if either of you recommended anything else similar to it i could watch?

D&D Lemur

Hey Dan do you follow the same development process for the games as you do your scripts/book? Also for the games development have you taught yourself/ have Rebecca teach you any programming languages?

Hey Dan, good luck with everything, I was wondering what you think of the RTS games MATN plays, like Stellaris or the Total War series?

If I like this video am I supporting you in what could be yet a both stressful time or am I acendently celebrating in potential misery? As far as the stand-up vs improv, when I fist started watching your videos those some years ago I remember stopping the video and trying to figure out if you had added the joke in post because it seemed just too perfect. I understand now this is just how your mind works. It seems almost like the same thinking about the thing that makes your comedy quick and brilliant is the same thing that causes you so much stress. Anyways, much love and appreciation from this direction.

I wish you the best going forward with the anxiety medication! Just remember that if you think it's not going well or the side effects are too strong go to the doctors and get another opinion. PS. In a couple podcasts you mentioned that you really like Steven Universe and in the last podcast you mentioned that it was the one of the few kids cartoons that you like because it has jokes for kids as well as jokes for adults. This is also how bronies feel (to a much higher degree) and i though it might be a good thing to point out since you've expressed confusion towards the brony fandom before.

Does anybody else have a problem where the player through patreon just quits halfway through? And it won't play anymore?

Jennifer J Waldorf

Hi Dan, what are your thoughts on the upcoming game Two Point Hospital (made my some of the devs behind the best game ever, Theme Hospital)?

Andrew Bradford

I did a course of Controlled Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on the NHS for my anxiety and it helped me. It gives you a tools box of things to help you cope. Therapy never worked for me.

Kim Clarke

It's the algorithm™ that decides that a video that gather a low amount of view in a specific time isn't worth showing to people, and they might not engage as much with that video. While a video that grabs attention and gather views will create a snowball effect as youtube push it to other viewers.

Xelias

I think that you have to consider something for your lack of views recently : You scared away a good deal of subscribers who enjoyed "Normal" videos (I would guess, your "under eighteen" viewers) by releasing weird and experimental stuff, then stopped doing cool and interesting concept to go back to a more normal type of video. I've found myself really not as interested in your videos recently because of that, I don't watch most of them because I'm not as much of a fan of plays anymore.

Xelias

One thing I like about the book is that, with the book tour, I'll actually get a chance to meet you. :D It recently occurred to me how much your presence has meant to me in the past year or so. My mum was dying of cancer (but it was kept from me until she was literally hospitalised, though I knew *something* was wrong) and I was under a lot of emotional distress. But when I think back to that time, one of my more prominent memories is of watching the (original) Planet Coaster completes series as they came out, and then playing Watch Dogs 2 along with your videos. Then a couple of months later, watching the Cities: Skylines series and then playing it myself until sunrise. Looking back, it seemed to stand out as this happy/positive thing during a time when things were largely pretty miserable. When I stopped to think about it, I think you played a meaningful part in helping me cope during that time. You've totally earned that $1 a month. :P Mind you, I've also been giving you my free twitch prime subscription when I remember to, and I've still got 700 twiddlies with your name on them. BTW, I liked it when you said my name (Tenchi-sama) on the stream, and mentioning the show it was from.

Damien Letham

Do people really stop watching a channel because they can see other people have stopped watching a channel? That's mad! I don't check to see how many views or subscribers something has, I just listen and watch and then watch more of their stuff if I like the first thing.

Patrick Jackson

Hi Dan. Have you seen James Acaster's 'Repertoire' four part stand up show on Netflix? I watched it recently and found it fantastic! Particularly the first part, 'Recognise'. Although, come to think of it, it may have been you that told me about it to begin with. If that's the case then please ignore this. And i'd just like to wish you, Rebecca and all of the Cubeds all the best. You've brought me so much joy for so many years. Thank you.

Dan would you play the Ark Park VR game that is on steam?

Lewis Corby

Epic battle simulator has had quite a few additions since you last played. Would love to see a stream of that!

The little and cubed one showed up in my subscription box but I wasn’t interested in watching it unlike the other two videos you mentioned.

Hang on Dan; are you telling me you don't use semi-colons every day? "If I did five or six streams a month I'd make more money than YouTube" Great out of context quote :-D The way YT is going it might be an accurate prediction too ;-p Very conscientious of you to avoid spoilers for a series that ended 5 years ago!

Patrick Jackson

The way I learnt to swallow pills is to chew a small amount of food, place pill on food, swallow.

He was abusive in relationships and I'm guessing that was the reason

mychemicalbromance

I thank you so much for these podcasts. Not only do I also have a lot of anxiety but I've struggled with depression for years and I listen to these every night to keep my mind occupied. As soon as I am in silence my depression takes over my mind and things get bad. Lately I've been the worst I've been in probably a year. A couple years ago I was on a family trip with no internet for a week and I downloaded your Euro Truck road trip video to my phone and I watched it and listened to it so many times during that because it was just comfort and distraction from the really bad depression I was in then. I was on medication for years but I've stopped last year because I didn't feel right on it but things are getting bad again but I'm not sure if I want to go back on

mychemicalbromance

Who is your favorite non Picard TNG regular crew member

Jed Cole

Welcome to the anxiety club Dan. It's always good to have a medical diagnosis confirming how much of a nutter you are. Wouldn't recommend meds though, really fucked up my anxious friend. Are you planning on doing anything with Steve and Larson in the near future?

J Singh

Dan, as someone who suffers from depression, anxiety, and a dozen other things, Here's my advice: You have to find your own coping mechanism. They always say deep breaths, quiet spot, etc. but if you really want to calm down, find that happy place and dive ankle deep into it. Also, look up Whose Line is it Anyway Bloopers. Probably the best improv I've ever seen.

Anna Leigh Wilson

Hi Dan, just finished ur first retro video and immediately download a gameboy emulator for my phone and found the goku game and have been having fun. I also have a game recommend but it's not retro, it's called Henry Hatsworth which is a ds game take a look and see. Thx for everything!

I don't know any helpful info for your situation but I hope everything works out for the best.

Dragmire

Hi Dan, where do you do your present shopping? I have many friends birthdays coming up and need some nerdy stuff for them. Any suggestions would be great. Also a suggestion for the Retro series. My uncle showed me Red L.E.D on the Commodore 64 and I thought it might be worth a look. All the best

Alex Sutherland

From an earlier question about judging our Robot Wars style event: I'm sorry to hear that your April is busy, however, we also have one running late next October, and we'd really like if you could come! Also, you woulnd't just be judging, because the judges also provide the commentary. I've edited down the last event to 4, 15 minute episode, and they are on Youtube! Here is the first in the series: <a href="https://youtu.be/V8WUsyUk0DM" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/V8WUsyUk0DM</a>

Titusz Ban

Hey Dan would you every consider writing for theatre?

Hey Dan. Could you maybe explain (unless you already have) why you hate Chris Brown so much? (I know nothing about the guy or most other rappers. Really just curious because I kinda like Lil Dicky)

Skylos

Oh and if you need an introduction I recommend the highly professional folks who run the Critical Role show

Alex

Dungeons and Dragons. Have you ever played it? The improvisation and story telling could be right up your street.

Alex

Matthew Perry went to my elementary school and was in my uncle's class.

Jellex

Dan, as a person who has been taking medication for psycosis for a couple years, it'll be fine. Above all else, don't forget who you are :)

Chewing_Soup

Hey Dan, I love these podcasts so very much. I wanted to ask, you mentioned "the autistic side of me" in a podcast a while back. As someone who was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and is struggling accepting their ASD-induced flaws, I would really like to ask if you are diagnosed with ASD or if this was a joke/exaggeration. If the latter; you mention having a lot of anxiety around people and getting stomach aches from it, did you know this is an extremely common symptom in people with ASD? Not trying to diagnose you at all, just wondering if this been considered as a possible factor? Thank you very much if you answer this!

PurpleManners

Hey Dan... much empathy from someone who suffered from generalized anxiety disorder for about as long as you have. Starting anti-depressants can be wonky but it clears up super-fast and then you're just suddenly FREE for the first time. It's like when you take swimming lessons and they teach you how to swim in your clothes in case of, like, a motor accident, and then finally you get to take your clothes off and, oh my god, everything is just SO EASY NOW. Good luck!

Felice Enellen

I was at my local Chapters (bookstore) and I saw attack of the flickering skeletons peaking out from the gaming section.

Jellex

Hiya Dan, Book tour, would you do North East I.E. Newcastle, Durham or Darlington. I’d be all over it, most people do Manchester and consider that the whole north is done with there. Either way I’ll be buying the book!

Tip for taking pills from a pill hater - Tilt your head forward, not back. It opens your throat more. I couldn't take pills as a child but now I find it doable most of the time.

Chris Camm

I just got done watching your new retro video and thoroughly enjoyed it! I have a suggestion for a game that I vaguely remember playing as a child. A platformer called Speedy Eggbert! I have no idea if it's good but I remember enjoying it (though that may just be nostalgia talking).

Joshua Aarons

Holy shit you read out my question that means a lot to me and was a good way to cap off my birthday weekend you pronounced my name wrong but oh well happens most of the time it's pronounced the same as mr Mackay from porridge again thanks for reading my comment hope you enjoyed the video I put in a separate comment really thought you would have.

I know you're way off actually planning a book tour, and you seem to live on the other side of the country, but if one does happen could you come to Ipswich? Or at least some places in East Anglia, I'd love to meet you!!

Narmatonia

Aww man having to give up baked beans would be a tough one for me

Narmatonia

I am being continuously exited by this "thing" that's going "well" and other "ambiguous" phrases. I had my hunches but now your talking about it making you a writer I am even more exited. Maybe one day will reach YouTube escape velocity. Maybe one day...

Addison Reilly

Yeah, having IBD, anxiety, and depression sucks. Because I'm a Psych student, I always thought therapy would not work because I know what's wrong with me, but wow it seriously helps!

Hey Dan, if Mercenaries was one of your favorite games, how did you feel about the sequel? I remember thinking it was a bit disappointing, especially since I expected character choice to have an effect on the plot (it didn't).

Jacob

Have you seen / what are your thoughts on the TV show Westworld? The second season is starting today and I imagine you would enjoy the first season. It focuses a lot more on the development of individual characters than Game of Thrones and has some genuinely well earned and surprising twists.

Hey Dan! First of all, it's pronounced "sin-ee-us" :P, second, I'm thinking of upgrading my computer since it's having some trouble handling more recent games but the trouble is I know almost nothing about how to build a computer. Do you have some tips on where I could start learning? Any place where I could look for a good pre-built?

Not sure why they would be doing it to your channel but it's a possibility.

Quite a few bigger political YouTubers have been finding that YouTube has been throttling videos. If your interested here's the link: <a href="https://youtu.be/5JZ71JeQ2dQ" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/5JZ71JeQ2dQ</a>

Would you or Rebecca ever consider getting into anime beyond the mainstream anime such as One Piece or Dragon Ball Z?

Jacq

Dan! Hello. Haven't listened to the podcast yet, but you said to get your questions in early, so I'm doing that now (I'll listen tomorrow at the gym). During a recording session, do you repeatedly think about how you're going to edit and how you might put the pieces together to make the video? I often come up with jokes I could've made or ways to edit a clip if I'd said a particular thing after the opportunity has passed. Keep up the good work!

FlamingYeti

Well the Text thing has just been patched, so I guess God of War is perfect. <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/article/104510/god-of-war-update-version-112-patch-includes-text-size-option" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.shacknews.com/article/104510/god-of-war-update-version-112-patch-includes-text-size-option</a>

Aaron Place

Plus (and this may just be me) I love listening to comedians reading their own books

Tom Chaney

On the topic of books and particularly audiobook, I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone reading this Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology, The Martian and anything from Terry Pratchett (especially the watch or witches books)

Tom Chaney

I know everyone says 'oh you just need to hold out until it gets good' and that's crap, so for Parks &amp; Rec just skip to season 3-4, that seems to be around when it became a show that people actually liked

Tom Chaney

Dan what's something you love about a game you hate? Or something you hate about a game you love?

Dan, I want you to know that we are here for you through thick and thin and no matter what we will stay behind you and support you. As well, if you get to a book tour could you come to Toronto or Halifax?

Max Tal

Also, it doesn't come across so well on the TV or radio versions, but at live Whose Line, Clive Anderson does the intro and he's hilarious

Tom Chaney

For improv, if you can make it to the Edinburgh Fringe, it's worth hitting up Austentatious, Whose Line Is It Anyway (yeah, it's back) and spending at least a day on the free fringe

Tom Chaney

He said he doesn't think he could do one, which made immediatantly think he should get ashens to do it

Johnflipper5

Have you ever seen dr. Strangelove it's one of my favorite movies

Johnflipper5

Also, do you collect amiibos? I finally found what I'm addicted to.

Gabriel Moody

Hey Dan, what are your thoughts on the Doctor Who spinoff, the Sarah Jane Adventures? I came across our DVD for season one recently and am wondering what you thought.

As someone who was recently diagnosed with social anxiety, it's really refreshing to here you talk about issues that I and many other people, including some of the people that listened to the podcast, deal with. Thank you for being open about the topic x

I believe it was brown M&amp;Ms and Ozzy Osbourne.

You mentioned chicken burgers, the quorn ones are fantastic.

Sandwich247

Hey Dan! Have you heard of Beat Saber? If not, it's like Audioshield but with lightsabers and it comes with levels that are pre-programmed to an original soundtrack. It also comes out on May 1st, which should be 2-3 days from the time you read this (if you read this on time)

Joseph Henderson

Enough to compensate for me, and lots of others, not buying it.

Henry

Dan, do us a favor and do your tour during uni term time, so I can catch you more easily! I can imagine that being true for a lot of your audience since you have a much older demographic.

Well Read Nomad

Take care of yourself. If that means a month or more off, then I don't think anyone who support you here would care too much.

Emil Aagaard Bovbjerg

Dan, knowing you're a fan of stand up, opinions on Tim Vine, my father introduced me to his stuff and it was a great bonding experience, also Steven Tries is absolutely hysterical, he started on YouTube and does stand up around the country, I highly recommend

You don't? I've spent 50 quid on the digital delux, which is 15 pounds cheaper than every other launch digital delux game, I have no idea where the 300 pounds came from.

WritingInVerse

God of War devs have got a text slider, so you can now make it bigger if you want. So it's now perfect

WritingInVerse

God of war would be great if I didn't have to spend a total of 300 pounds to play it.

Henry

Dan, if you do take a break to deal with your stuff, have you considered doing guess videos like Tom Scott does, but with youtubers like Ashens, TB etc?

Thomas Reeves

So you're doing weekly podcasts? Could've sworn it was one ever two. But whatever, not complaining since I do enjoy them.

Chewing_Soup

My favourite side affect that my anti-depressants list is "feeling to happy"

Aaron Place

I'm glad you're making progress to sort all your shit out, is there any sense of relief with the answers you have got? Just wondering because I have recently be diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder and Schizophrenia.. And that has been the best news I've been given because I now know its not all in my head

Chester

How much money do I have to give you on Patreon for the font of the book to be Comic Sans?

Jellex

Hi Dan, just a quick question that I have been wanting to ask for a while but haven't for literally no reason: I was 15 when I started watching your videos and am now an elderly, 20 year old man. I was wondering whether you still think you content is for me and that the content has aged up with your initial audience (like Harry Potter did) or whether you still make content for the same age group you did way back then? I am awful at getting my brain to say what I know I mean so I hope this makes sense! Also, thanks for being a fun guy for the last 5 years of my life! Also, also, Razer is NOT the best robot and I will fight you if you disagree!

Would you ever make a video on overwatch. It doesn't seem like your kinda game and watching you play it would be hilarious

I can certainly relate! I had no idea I was anxious until my psychologist diagnosed me, and then I felt like I became my diagnosis and felt like I had to be anxious. It wasn't a fun experience. Also, the side effects from the meds were brutal. They made me tired and nauseous. I had to drop out of school because I literally couldn't keep my eyes open and my head up. If they make you worse, insist to your doctor that you try something else. It took 8 weeks for my doctor to finally decide to give me something else, and by that point my life had pretty much been destroyed. Fuck Lexapro.

Hey Dan, since you are clearly Alan Davies in disguise, I wanted to know something: Do you ever watch your old Jonathan Creek episodes, and if so, what do you think of them now? I've always been a big fan of the show, so it's nice to be able to support you.

Felice Enellen

He doesn't know, he has answered this question before saying that Youtube is a completely different beast now. He managed to get big thanks to the mystery videos, but that trick doesn't work anymore.

Henry

Look up stretching chipmunk. This is for everyone, DO IT

Scott

Hi Dan, dead chuffed to hear that your's will be an actual book, not just a YouTube book. Looking forwards to hearing more when you can say it!

Well Read Nomad

As a person with diagnosed severe lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance and IBS, I can really relate to the digestive problems, and the way they can impede your life. I've also suffered from depression, social phobia and generalised anxiety my entire life. So yeah. I feel ya.

The Good Place isn't actually a Netflix original it's an NBC show, that Netflix has the exclusive rights to air it in the UK and other countries, Netflix just tends to put the logo on even if it's just exclusively airing in that country. You can tell by that they'll put episode up weekly the day/a couple hours after it airs in the US, the only exceptions I have found is "iZombie" which puts out episode weekly on Netflix but doesn't have the Netflix branding and "You Me Her" which does but actually just puts all the episode out once it is done airing in the US Also, have you seen Alex Horne's new show on BBC One called "The Button" it's basically Taskmaster but in a Gameshow, with Families of all different sizes from their own homes doing challenges like "Bring the second most forks on a plate to the Button" and "Buid a tower out of Pillows, cans and books taller than the tallest person in the house now"

Dan I have a small gaming channel. What would you recommend I do to break the algorithem, youtube hates small youtubers. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChDKOh0SJluIeHxTIDPs6YQ" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChDKOh0SJluIeHxTIDPs6YQ</a>

so I have recently started watching it’s always sunny in Philadelphia, and it’s comedy genius. A title card has never made me laugh before. My question is do you like it? And if you do what makes it so good?

Check out Bo Burnham's book, illustrations on every page in a simplistic style, works well.

Morning Daniel, just googled what you were talking about and it was van halen &amp; it was BROWN m&amp;ms - <a href="http://ultimateclassicrock.com/david-lee-roth-van-halen-brown-mms-rule/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://ultimateclassicrock.com/david-lee-roth-van-halen-brown-mms-rule/</a> I have to say - as well - I know where you're coming from with the whole not noticing your mental health issues until someone points them out I can definitely relate to. Two friends have pointed out my autism until I went to get a diagnosis. Also, if you need to take time out to deal with your mental health - do it. You, and your family come before any of us. ❤️
