Get better dan

Connor Leroux

Hey Dan, I just wanted to let you know that nerd cubed quick is some of my favorite stuff you have ever made.... And I have been watching g you since like 2012 I love what you are doing and I just wanted to make sure you knew that, that's why I have your book ordered and subscribe here. Keep at it man!

Jackie

Dan, what games do you recommend when using the switch as a handheld?

D&D Lemur

where has the sims gone

Dan, as you have said in previous podcasts that YouTube is now your lowest earner but I just want you to know that although you probably have your own reasons for not doing sponsored videos, no one will care or probably even notice if you have a short clip at the start of a video just saying 'check out so and so website they do good things and get 20 percent off with my code' because we all know that you are not doing it so you can pile all your money up and count it while laughing. what I am trying to say is we all know that you have a business to run and employees to pay (apologies if this sounds really wanky and pretentious in any way, I didn't mean it to come across like that)

Or do sponsorships from people like skillshare which most other youtubers I watch are sponsored by, then it's for something which could actually help people!

Mike Jones

I always put my food on the edge of the spinning plate that way all of it gets heated pretty evenly.

Dylan Harrison

Dan, for fucks sake. Just get sponsors on your videos. We don't care. You're still in that 2013 mindset where people aren't allowed to use sponsors. You don't have to make sponsored content, just read a little text like: "hey you get 30% off for dollarshaveclub if you use my code. They have good products. Bye" and most of these companies these days give little to no fuck what your video is about. So you can still do what you want. It's the same goddamn thing as having youtube play an ad on your video, why don't you just do it?

Mathieu Marlaire

Get well soon!

Julian

Dan, have you watched Birdman? It's a movie that has been made to look like a single unbroken take almost entirely from start to finish (think the Baby Driver coffee run scene but for a whole movie), with all the cuts cleverly disguised. Even if you don't like the sound of the story it's worth a watch for this feat of cinematography alone.#

Narmatonia

It's like fine dining. Tiny portions, but so much more delicious.

Snorezor

If you've never seen it and you like that type of traveling exploring the world with male bonding type of thing I'd recommend Ewan McGregor in Long Way Round where he and his best friend rode their motorbikes round the world from london on to New York going east. Also Long Way Down where they rode from Scotland to South Africa.

YodatheHobbit

Loved the 3 indie games video. I will say tho, I miss the amount of content we used to get. 3 minutes feels like a sample at the deli when we used to get a 3 course meal. Edit: yes there is streams, but I dont have time to watch them, and the format isnt the same.

Collin Regalia

Just eat ice-cream and you'll make it through

Jessica Cronin

I had tonsillitis for a while and it was horrible!

Jessica Cronin

I used to write a book longhand in a spiral notebook just to figure out what the story was, then chuck it and start over once I knew. Not the most efficient way. Also, if I may: “Maybe original art is better than connect-the-dots art.” (Paraphrased) Dan, please! In both cases it’s art—and art is good 🙂

WC the Comedian

You mentioned how gifs distract you and I'm in the same boat, so I thought it'd let you know you can disable them from autoplaying in tweetdeck's settings if you didn't already know.

Joshua Aarons

Just out of curiosity, have you ever heard of RTgame

Johnflipper5

Hey Dan! Hope you feel better soon! Also totally agreed sparkling water, what is up with that. Who on earth wants fizzy water. Just no!! Also dark chocolate is just not tasty or enjoyable!!

Stuart Barber

How dare you pair the best kind of chocolate with the worst kind of water. I’m so offended xP ....ok offense is gone, I love you again :)

Steven Carpadakis

Dan, if you want to get seen you have to take the emergency appointments.

ThisDamnScotsman

Sparkling water and dark chocolate is awesome, shush!😂 Marmite however is a big no

Three things: On nuclear waste - Taking the UK as an example, currently almost all of the High Level Waste generated throughout the entire history of the UK nuclear industry is stored in a single room at Sellafield. It is in near surface storage, in a secure facility where it harms no one. The footprint of this room is negligible, you could expand this single facility to be the size of a village and have centuries worth of storage space. The rest of the High Level Waste is stored at the site of each power plant while it cools down awaiting transport to Sellafield, or in the case of Sizewell it is being moved to dry storage casks on site where it could be safely stored for a century. The casks used to store this waste are engineered to withstand light aircraft impact, they are very secure. Using the waste argument against nuclear has little basis. Yes, the facilities need to be carefully planned and built to the necessary levels of safety, but if they are there is almost no danger to the public or the environment. You could also argue that the lifetime of some of the isotopes means that this is an issue we'll have to deal with for up to 100000 years, however if the world got truly serious about nuclear it would likely invest further in reprocessing and a closed fuel cycle which would eliminate some of these long half life isotopes, meaning that the remainder would only be active for a few centuries. The long term goal for a lot of countries is a deep geological disposal facility. Personally I am not a huge supporter, especially if we do decide to commit to further reprocessing as we would be sealing away all of the fuel which could still be used but is mixed in with the high level waste. But regardless, if implemented properly then you cannot argue against nuclear on the waste issue (or any other issue for that matter, with the possible exception of economics but you can either pay more for clean energy or pay less and accept that you will not stop climate change). Conversely the waste from fossil fuels and some other renewables is either posing a great risk to the public right now, both from a health and climate standpoint, or will do so in the future as is the case with solar. People blame the nuclear industry for not thinking ahead and considering the consequences of generation in decades to come, and rightly so. Currently I fear this same negligence is being carried out by governments who will happily subsidise solar with no apparent plan for decommissioning. On washing machines - Yes the ballast is there to prevent the machine from moving around too much, and also I believe to change the machine's natural frequency so that when the machine is running it doesn't resonate and shake itself to pieces. Also, some bright spark had the idea of changing the concrete blocks to big containers that can be filled with water. That means that you can transport them with the containers empty, saving on fuel costs and difficulty of installation, and then just fill them up when it's set up. On microwaves - If you want to make sure all of your food is heated evenly it is best to place it in the shape of an O as then all the food will pass through the same hot and cold spots. (Obviously not possible with all foods but if you can do it then do.)

Mike Jones

The file name of this is 08 instead of 18.

Hey Dan! My great uncle was a physics lecturer in East Anglia until he passed away and I still have his lecture notes on the impacts of nuclear power which I'd be happy to show you, if that'd be something you like?

Joe Blackburn

Dan whyyyyyyy. Why would you watch Kill the Moon? It is actually up there with In The Forest of the Night for worst Capaldi episode. The next one, Mummy on the Orient Express is so much better :( Also stop being sick too :(

Christopher Kennard

Please get better Dan, and no not get better soon, now!
