What an odd duck this is, a rewhatever of a game that, to my knowledge, wasn't very good in the first place. Metacritic averages the original at 7/10, which seems right for the time. It's an average platformer. Yet, as I write this, it has an "overwhelmingly positive" review score on Steam. It's nostalgia bait, pure and simple.
So if the games industry is making remakes of games like this, then WHY HASN'T ANYBODY REMADE SMALL SOLDIERS FOR THE PS1 YET HUH? HUH?!

Matt Edit: Since this went out on Patreon, I went back and redid a couple of small things in the video! Added about 13s of stuff, and reworked some of the audio balancing, plus a new thumbnail!

2020-06-29 21:25:35 +0000 UTCI grew up with spongebob as my older siblings were always in charge of the tv remote, i was never a huge fan of it i found it so stupid. This game is just the weirdest thing i have ever seen and i don't understand why it got a remake all. So strange...

2020-06-29 20:47:03 +0000 UTCI think the remake for this game is perfect timing: a game people are very nostalgic for that isnt available on anything modern, wasnt even on PC back in the day, and was actually a completely decent platformer. nothing outstanding but it worked and was fun especially to those kids who loved SpongeBob back in the day. I remember the weeks on end I spent playing it on the GameCube and never finishing it. I look forward to seeing how well they did the remaster
