Hello!
A few weeks ago I got to spend three hours with Watch Dogs Legion and, thankfully, it's as good as I wanted it to be.
I can't say a huge amount yet, NDAs and all that, but I can say that this game is pretty much the first AAA story generator. You know how games like Crusader Kings or Rimworld let you tell stories to yourself? Watch Dogs Legion has that energy. You'll find people, silly random people like the landlord with the shotgun or the old man who wants a fight, and you'll fold them into the story yourself. Endless nice touches like having them hang out in the base really solidify this vibe, and you really can recruit anyone. The world feels so damn ALIVE.
I'll be interested to see if this idea has long term legs, whether or not repetition of missions kicks in early and if that kills the open feeling. Some people won't care for it, they'll see a shotgun wielding pedestrian and just use them as a tool to get missions done, but for me, I'm going to dress them up, I'm going to learn to love them, and, more than likely, I'm going to get them killed.
For now though, Watch Dogs Legion feels big, bold and experimental. I cannot wait to get my hands on it again.
This video is in two parts due to an odd stipulation from Ubisoft that videos must be under 20 minutes (That, and the video be edited were their only stipulations), so here's both links:
