Strongest in DxD - Chapter 23

The Three Factions of Angels, Demons, and Fallen Angels warred against each other under the leadership of the Biblical God, the Four Great Satans, and the Fallen Angel organization; Grigori, led by the Fallen Angel Azazel in a conflict that became known as 'The Great War'.

When the war finally ended, each side suffered great losses, leaving the Three Factions in a state of conflict. However, due to the state of extreme exhaustion after the Great War and with the three factions losing their main forces, neither of the three sides wanted to continue fighting.

Therefore, although there was no peace between the factions, direct battles did not take place either.

Many years later, after the death of the original Four Satans, the Underworld entered a civil war. On one side were the families of Satan who wanted to continue their fight against the Angels and the Fallen Angels, while on the other side were the rest of the more prominent houses of the devil known as the 72 Pillars (which were reduced to 34 now) who wanted to peace and a new order.

The conflict lasted for a few years until finally four demons from four different houses united, pushed the Old Government Faction and secured the war in favor of the New Government faction. The government that hoped the new generation could live in peace and harmony, without the horrors of war. These four demons being...

Though young, each of them possessed an incredible strength that left many trembling where they were and could decimate entire countries if they wanted to.

Each had their own set of skills and power. Though individually they were powerful, without a doubt, together they were nearly invincible and quickly became the spearhead in the battle against the Ancient Government / Descendants of the Ancient Satanes Faction.

The Civil War took its toll on all living demons, but eventually the New Government Faction prevailed.

With that, the Old Government Faction retreated and went into hiding. And the underworld quickly began to change under his new administration.

With the departure of the Underworld leaders, the four most powerful individuals took responsibility for the Underworld, that is, to protect each of the citizens who lived and breathed in their homeland.

The Devil's four civil war heroes took on the mantle of the old Satan and became the new Four Great Satans with Sirzechs being the leader of the four and taking the mantle of Lucifer while Ajuka took Beelzebub, Serafall took Leviathan and Falbium took Asmodeus.

Some time later, Ajuka created the [Pieces of Evil].

With so few pureblood demons left and half of the 72 pillars now extinct, they needed to repopulate the Underworld somehow, which eventually led to the creation of the [Piece of Evil] system, a system that allowed humans and other creatures/beings reincarnate and turned into demons, with the exception of extremely powerful beings like a Buddha or a Dragon God.

And in this very place, more specifically in Gremory territory, in the house where the leader of the Gremory clan and his family was having a meeting.

In a large room in the Gremory house you could see several people standing in the room.

The first was a handsome middle-aged man with long red hair tied back in a loose ponytail with a black headband. He has bright blue eyes. He also has a short red beard or stubble.

This was Zeoticus Gremory the leader of the Gremory clan and father of Sirzechs Lucifer and Rias Gremory.

Beside him was a seductively handsome and attractive young man who appears to be in his mid-twenties, with pale blue eyes and green hair slicked back. He has a mysterious aura around him that he says makes him look devilish.

It was Ajuka Beelzebub, formerly known as Ajuka Astaroth. He is the Chief Advisor to the Technology Department and the creator of the Evil Pieces system and Rating Game. He is the former heir of Clan Astaroth and comes from the family branch of Clan Astaroth.

Next to him was a beautiful girl in her late teens with black hair tied in two tails and blue eyes. She also has a childlike body (albeit with big breasts).

She dresses up in magical girl clothes and a wand.

This is Serafall Leviathan, formerly known as Serafall Sitri, she is the Satan Leviathan in charge of Foreign Affairs. She is the former heir of the Sitri Clan and the eldest daughter of Lord and Lady Sitri, and the eldest sister of Sona Sitri.

The last man was a tall man whose head is completely bald and has a goatee on his chin.

This is Falbium Asmodeus, formerly known as Falbium Glasya-Labolas, he is the Satan Asmodeus who is in charge of Military Affairs.

Beside Zeoticus was Venelana who was standing patiently.

After what happened to Sirzechs she was ordered to return to the Gremory house for the second part of the plan.

Oblivious to this the other demons were here for another reason.

All of them had gotten a call from Grayfia through magic circles telling them to go urgently to Gremory House as something had happened to Sirzechs.

Everyone was now waiting with anguish about it.

All they really knew was that Rias had challenged a human to battle and that she had lost and been seriously injured and taken to the hospital in Sitri territory and that Sirzechs had gone after that human.

This would be something the demons were waiting for as they knew how Sirzechs acted whenever his sister was mentioned and hoped the human would probably die.

But because of Grayfia's call and her warning, that was what was worrying them all right now.

A magic circle appeared in front of everyone who turned their attention to it.

From the magic circle came a light which when it disappeared was revealed Grayfia rising from the light with her eyes filled with tears as she inched forward and fell to the ground.

Venelana who watched couldn't help but be surprised and almost applaud Grayfia's performance, Venelana almost thought it was real.

Everyone's eyes widened when they saw Grayfia's situation as they had never seen her like this.

"Grayfia what happened?" Zeoticus asked along with the others who approached Grayfia.

"It was Sirzechs," Grayfia said causing everyone's blood to gelassen.

"What happened to him?" asked Ajuka quickly worried about his best friend.

"He's been caught," Grayfia said causing everyone to widen their eyes.

"What happened to Sirzechs? Explain from the beginning Grayfia," said Venelana as she approached.

Taking a deep breath Grayfia started to speak: "We went after whoever hurt Rias-sama, but it was a trap" Grayfia said causing everyone to stare perplexed.

"I just saw a mist appear and disappear with Sirzechs and then disappear and also…"

"What Grayfia?" asked Serafall leaving her childish behavior aside.
