My own private (patron-supported) record imprint! Heartfelt Gratitude! New and old friends in different countries!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick note, and a heartfelt THANK YOU for your continued support! I'm just finishing the final layers, mix and mastering of the album. The next few months of pledges will mainly go toward the design and manufacturing costs of the four 7" singles from Creatures of the Late Afternoon.

They will be released on.... wait for it, my very own private record imprint! So now, in addition to finishing the final musical touches and artwork for the album, we are also figuring out all the logistics of the label side: Label names, logos, ISRC/UPC codes, digital distribution set ups etc. We had a big team meeting (on zoom) with the crew this week and we are diving into all of it now. New muscles, new music industry landscape that is oddly liberating and I'm excited to see what kind of fun we can make happen!

I've decided to roll out this record in a sort of "non-industry standard" kind of way. In lieu of a months long live tour (which is what we would normally do but is currently not possible with the pandemic), I've decided to roll out the record more slowly in sections over what would have been our "tour" timeline.

Every few months we will release one of the four 7"s vinyls (which includes 2 album tracks, 1 non album track, and some bonus sounds and beats for use with the board game which will be included with the full length album). We are also making some short attention span, lofi videos or "Creature Corners" to introduce you to some of the characters on the album.  Those of you who follow the Patreon Lens posts have probably seen some of those sets coming together.

You could think of it like a Creatures "mini film festival" that we'll roll out over the next several months. A fun way of introducing some of the characters while giving you a taste of the music.

After all four 7"s are released (8 album tracks), we will lead up to the 20-track full length album release + board game as well with 2 stop-motion animation videos for tracks "Things Are Gonna Change" and "1000 Towns" that we'll be doing with our friends at See Creature Animation Studios.

FYI I don't know of a label that would ever agree to let us do it this way and on this timeline, but I actually think it makes a lot of sense considering the whole Creatures concept and narrative. Plus animation takes time!

This is probably (definitely) too much work to bother for one album, but hey! I'm stuck at home and learning a lot from each of these projects so here we go! I hope it will bring some smiles to your eyes and ears in the coming months.

Thank you, patrons, for making it all possible.  Please stay safe!

Other news!  While you're here, Patreon gave me some news about how they've updated their system which benefits some of you who are using different currencies for your pledges!

Everyone in the UK, EU and U.S. can now pledge my Patreon in their local currency of Euros (€), British Pounds (£) or U.S. Dollars ($). This will help prevent you paying extra conversion fees from your bank or card when pledging in a currency that’s not your own.

Any new visitors to my page will see my tiers priced in their local currency of €, £, or $. For those of you who would like to switch your preferred currency you can follow these steps:

  1. On Patreon.com, hover over your avatar in the top right of your screen.
  2. Click Manage memberships.
  3. Find this page, and click Edit.
  4. Under Currency, choose your preferred currency.
  5. Click Update to save your settings.

For those of you outside of these currencies, you’ll continue to see your pledge priced in my currency.

Check out this help center article if you have questions about changing your currency, or this article if you have questions about how tiers are priced in these new currencies.
