Arps x Harps!

Just a quick update! I've been working every day on the mix for the Space Cadet Soundtrack. At one point became apparent to me that there were a few moments in the score that needed just one more little layer of extra magic. So I enlisted my friend Coralie Gauthier, artist and harpist here in Montreal to record some wonderful moments of harp on some of the cues.
For this scene, I had scored the track with an arpeggiated synth cycle (inaudible here but is playing on our headphones so as not to bleed into the live microphones) during a montage moment in the film of Celeste exploring a far away planetary system.
Coralie's playing was just the perfect counterpoint to the synth cycle and altogether it has an organic, yet otherworldly sound. Can't wait for you to hear it all mixed together in the film.
For those of you in the Toronto area, I will be heading to Hot Docs Ted Rogers Theatre (Nov 21st at 7pm) to do a work-in-progress presentation of the Space Cadet film. I'll be accompanied by Lillian Chan (Head of Story + Production Designer) and Corinne Merrell (Art Director). We will show some clips from the film and talk about the processes about working on this film followed by a Q&A.

I'll also be hosting an in-person Music To Draw To Session the day before (Nov 20th at from 7pm ) That event is also FREE, just show up at 401 Richmond St. West with your art supplies and get some creative work done! More info on that here.
