[New Files!] A floating Luke Skywalker Lightsaber has been added to the January Specialist rewards!
Added 2025-01-07 16:03:42 +0000 UTCWe've made a file that uses this awesome magnetic shoe display before but finally got around to making one of the more obvious props to use with it - a Lightsaber!
Unfortunately there aren't many good candidates for this system since you need a specific emitter style to fit the floating magnet but we've got a few more planned.
How it works: The lightsaber screws together and encloses the magnet. You can then add counterweights and insert it into the display. The files should include all the links and tutorials you need!
Hope you all enjoy! If you don't recognize the guy in the video, his name is Gari! He is our newest hire and brings with him a ton of advanced metalworking knowledge and makes a great addition to the team, be on the lookout for him in future content!

My display arrived today, I was so excited to get it set up annnnnnnnd the magnet doesn't fit. Gosh darn it!

2025-01-07 18:31:39 +0000 UTCThe magnet is included in the shoe display. Since it depends on your print settings you could either need more or less weight added afterwards. As long as you get to the 500 grams somehow you'll be okay.

Additionally 'adding counter weight' in the video is just the presenter putting in some small metal nuts. Is there a best practice or really just what will hold it down - Might be concerned it will sound like a baby rattle if picked up if the weighted content is not glued in place.
