We debate what kind of work 'shared-labour socialism' would involve in a complex society, and what role 'dispossession' or 'expropriation' has in the contemporary economy. Plus: strategies on Ukraine – backing independence, guerilla warfare, and what an 'anti-NATO' stance actually looks like; and whether the forces exist for exiting the EU.

And here is where the argument about "the expropriation of capitalists by other capitalists" would come in place. If we would assume that a wide array of welfare-state industries and services were effectively just mediated kinds of capitalist enterprises organized by the state, and that the gratuity (where it was the case, cause things like railways have never been free, subsidised at most) of the commodities they provided actually a mere mediated way of producing and distributing things made under the wage relation in a capitalist society, then the privatisation of those industries and institutions have actually been expropriated from one capitalist by another. So, in a sense what harveyites think of as accumulation by dispossession in Western countries would actually be a recurring and structural feature of capitalism. Just not in the moralistic way it has been put forward by many.

Appreciate the engagement, though I'm still unconvinced by the voluntarism on the EU and Ukraine. Also I would definitely support a German monarchy if the Hohenzollerns would force Flick to play Niclas Füllkrug up front

One Harveyite claim that seems unaddressed is that the "plunder" is in large part the privatization of things (like schools) that have already gone through the process of capitalist commodification and then socialization into publicly owned goods. Less a new market; not a new commodity. Would be especially curious how this fits with Phil's claim that daycare has been effectively socialized. Is Bungacast officially apiece with the Democratic party: is everything government-owned socialist now?
