Salve Patreons!
Last week, I visited Britain for a few days. Since I was near Colchester, I had to make a visit to the Colchester castle.
Colchester was a former Roman city (around 50 CE) called Camulodunum and was the capital of the province.
Colchester castle is one of the largest Norman Keeps in Europe, built on top of the ruins of the Roman Claudius Temple. The temple was burned down during the Boudican revolt.
The remains of the city were still visible, like the old Roman wall.
The castle was an amazing museum, particularly the remains of the Claudius Temple underneath the castle which you can still visit. If you're near Colchester swing by to the castle, you won't regret it. For just a few pounds extra you'll get a personal tour underground.
Enjoy the photo's! Do you have any recommendations on the best historic Roman sights you've visited?
