A new adventure in another century

Last weekend we stepped into another century, namely the 4th century AD. We were invited to participate in this Late Roman event in Museum Park Orientalis near Nijmegen. We took part in demonstrations and lived for two days as a comitatenses (late roman legionary).
Over the past few months we have been busy assembling an equipment of a comitatenses. As you can see, the Romans look completely different from the first century AD.
Which century would you like to see portrayed by us?

We try to have a kit from all the periods. The republic period and 3rd century is our new goal. I have bought a beautiful handforged Republican gladius en some caligae as a start! I will make some pictures of it for you!

You guys are clearly (the good kind of) nerds, so you will certainly end up talking about the kind of minutia your channel is already known for.

2022-08-08 17:09:23 +0000 UTCNice. My period is the late republic (my dissertation was on Gaius Marius) but the later/Vegetius stuff is always fun to see as the Romans absorbed the arms and armour of their opponents.
