As for promotion and relegation, I think most all American fans want it but it’s the league executives that do not. The investment in the sport isn’t safe if you can get relegated. Many of the owners who bought into MLS/USL did so with the promise that their investment would be safe. If you now introduced relegation, that safe investment is safe, no more. The leagues kind of backed themselves into a corner. However, the USL is making attempts to implement it within their divisions between the championship and league one.
