Lelouch doesn't know why Rolo killed Shirley. As far as he knows, Rolo was telling the truth when he said he killed Shirley because she had a gun and seemed to be going after Lelouch. He didn't hear Shirley mention Nunally or see Rolo shoot her. It's still one of Lelouch's dumbest moves to put Rolo on the Nunally rescue mission since he 1. knows how unstable and murderous Rolo is even if he doesn't know what triggers Rolo's kill instinct and 2. Rolo's ability would be so useful in a fight like this where he can freeze Kightmare pilots and make them sitting ducks.

2026-01-12 20:50:32 +0000 UTCI feel like Lelouch's reasoning became clear when he said "my sister had nothing to do with it" and that "its all my fault alone". He wanted to take ownership / blame of everything that went wrong and show that hes the only one at fault so that there should be no reason for Suzaku not to save Nunnally, who is innocent.

2026-01-08 05:10:10 +0000 UTCI think Lelouch has no delusions about him not being at fault for the things that have happened whether intentional or not. Saying it was an accident feels like a sort of hollow excuse when he did give the order. He didnt mean to but in the end it doesnt matter. He was careless and caused the death of many innocent people. There is no going back or changing it at this point so he opted just to take the blame.
