Actually I did not think to watch this movie in the cinema at first, however got a chance watch it with my friend. I am glad that I watch it. And I watch it again and again for 13 time with 2D, 3D, 4DX, IMAX. It is sad that Hong Kong does not have cinema that with Dolby. It will be a masterpiece it I can get in to cinema and watch it with Dolby. The ost were fantastic. I would say the same thing Makima said despite I hate this character, this is the movie that change my life. Reze character design was too good. I did not cry when I first watch it, I just feel so sad and fill empty when it ends. That's why I decided to watch again. And everytime I watched it, I still cry for serval scene. I was caught when Reze said she haven't been to school either. Before she said this I was just want to grant this movie a 9 out of 10. After that sentence, completly 11 out of 10

2026-02-20 19:35:38 +0000 UTCAt the end, Reze said something about taking too much time and there is a plane flying over their heads. On the island she didn't went for his heart. And originally she wanted to disappear or take the train. But then she looked at the flower, thought of Denji and decided to stay. When she went back to the café, I don't think it was with the intention to kill Denji. I think she realized that she actually cared for him without being conscious of it at the beginning, cause weirdly, Denji was just like her and didn't had a normal life - that's when she said in her thoughts: Denji, to be honest, I never went to school either. And it absolutely makes sense that you don't want to kill people if you're just being used and forced to kill as a devil for an organization that experimented on you and that you're just a puppet to. LIke "I have this mission. I have to do it or I will get killed. But I prefer to achieve my objective without having to kill people." It's not like she enjoys torturing or killing people, apparently, she just isn't a free human being.

A tragic story is nothing new, but the way the author portrayed the encounter of two troubled kids, manipulated by their adult figures (Makima, the Soviets) into miserable and pityful lives was really heartbreaking.

Transforming into a pack of mice, rituals for killing from a distance, contracts for taking people's eyes and returning them, crows... And Reze herself called her “that witch.” I don't think it's just an insult.

I think what makes the Reze arc so impactful is how human Reze is; not just in the context of her being a Devil/fiend but simply as a fictional character. When we ask "what does she really want?", that is the question we ask about the people in our lives all the time. Humans are not linear at all, little nuances in our thinking impact our actions in unpredictable ways. She's not a typical fictional archetype, she feels real (emotionally at least haha not the bombing and fighting). From the telephone booth scene to the ending in the hallway, everything was written so intentionally. Everything makes sense psychologically from a seduction and emotional attachment standpoint, yet everything's so eerily unpredictable. Did Reze love Denji? We don't know; in fact, Reze probably doesn't even know herself. All we know is that there's enough emotional attachment to make her turn back. That's a natural step in early stages of attraction, making illogical decisions just to figure things out. She didn't turn back because she had clarity, she turned back because she doesn't. And ironically, that may be the most liberated Reze has ever felt in her life. That's the painful part about the ending. It isn't quite "unrealised love", it's that we don't even get to see them figure things out with their masks off. Two individuals who unknowingly share an upbringing filled with manipulation finally getting a chance to reach out to one another in search of something genuine, just to be cut off. That ambiguity in writing is genius. The author did an amazing job of planting seeds, whether it's in Denji's development or world building. I don't know what happens next, but I can't think of a single possibility that wouldn't be intriguing to watch.

They were made just for the movie and go crazy. I think they’ve been charting on the JP Billboard charts since they dropped.
