I’m a little late to mention this but Super Mario Bros was actually released in arcades in certain markets of the US before the NES was available. Vs Super Mario Brothers was an arcade port of the Japanese Famicom game and it was available in two different stores in my hometown a year before anyone had an NES. When the NES came out I thought SMB was a port of the arcade game not the other way around.
