The Nextlander Watchcast Episode 145: Star Trek: The Trouble with Tribbles and The Gamesters of Triskelion

On this week's Watchcast we've got an all-timer of a Star Trek episode in the The Trouble with Tribbles, an episode so chock full of quality jokes and adorable creatures that it's impossible not to love. We also have The Gamesters of Triskelion, which we'll charitably describe as not quite as good as the preceding episode.

Also in Star Trek Online, you could have a tribble that I think gave a small buff if you pet it. It wasn’t until an early patch, but yes they would his at you instead if you were a Klingon. Also if you had any food items in your inventory, they would eat them over time and it was replaced by a new tribble

The TAS tribble ep had Cirino solve the breeding issue somehow but instead they are growing bigger and fatter (eventually almost person sized). Got some good reoccurring comedic bits of Kirk having to push a larger and larger tribble from his seat. It’s then revealed they weren’t fat, just filled with more and more babies. Also this time the Klingons have engineered a Glommer that eats tribbles but of course it runs away when it sees the giant tribble

"Little Fuzzy" is a great book, and I also really enjoyed John Scalzi's "reboot" "Fuzzy Nation" that came out in 2011: both are pretty breezy reads that still manage to hit some emotional depth
