Tuesday Showcase #14: The Gift

Another Tuesday Showcase! Yeah!

First, I want to preview a new chapter coming in version 0.13, called The Gift.

In this chapter, Nathan asks Laura to come to his apartment after work, because he has a gift for you. What could it be?

This chapter will trigger after Chapter 28 for now, but in the future, it will become what I call a Vignette Chapter (thanks Turian for the suggestion). Vignette Chapters will allow me to tell small stories that are independent from the main plot, and may sometimes be a bit different from the main chapters. I'll probably be able to have a bit of fun writing them, and allow me to give you nice stories.

These chapters will be triggered in a random order between other selected chapters, but you will see every Vignette Chapter in a normal playthrough. Just like other chapters, they will also be replayable from the Memories app. This should allow for a bit of randomness, without creating issues for picture collectors.

Ideally, I would add another chapter in version 0.13, but to be honest, the Dominant rework, and Very Dominant addition are taking a lot more time than I expected. The content added to Chapter 21 could have made up an entire chapter, and I still haven't started work on subsequent chapters (admittedly, though, these other chapters should take much less time). So, in the end, The Gift will probably be the only new chapter in version 0.13 (and some parts of the reworks might end up in version 0.14).

Note that this chapter is still the same size as other chapters, and even longer than a lot of them. 😉

Chapter Completion

Talking about picture collectors, the Memories app in version 0.13 will now display a bar showing the ratio of pictures you've collected in each chapter. If you unlocked all of them, this bar will turn green.

On top of that, hovering over the chapter will tell you exactly how many pictures this chapter has, and how many you've unlocked.

Roadmap

I'm now using a proper roadmap for the game, that you can find here. It shows what's planned for the next version, what I've already done, and what I'm working on.

Please keep in mind that this is just a basic tool, that doesn't completely represent the state of the game. And that the To Do section is more of a "I want to do that", instead of a "I WILL do that". Some of these tasks will get pushed back to later versions, depending on the time they take me.

Version 0.14 delay

I also wanted to warn you that version 0.14 will be delayed by a week. It will release on December 10th, 4 weeks after version 0.13. The reason for that delay is that I'm taking my girlfriend and step daughter to Disneyland, a trip I have been saving for before I had even started working on Netorase Phone.

And let's be honest, I don't really want to write porn at Disneyland. So I'm going to enjoy a bit of down time. Rest assured that following updates will keep the 3 weeks schedule though (which means you'll get an update on December 31st 😁
