Change to Patreon Payments.
Added 2021-12-11 23:32:14 +0000 UTCHey folks, I feel bad having to write this but this wasn't initiated by me, and I spoke this over with the techs at Patreon to look for a solution. Some folks who were on the opening tiers here wanted the content that I had on higher tiers, so they would momentarily jump to a higher tier, get access to the content, then drop back down to a lower tier. There were some folks who were habitually doing this, maybe not aware that I was being shown every time they were doing it. They always made sure to be on the lowest tier just in time for the billing, if not shortly after jumpin up to the higher level.
I have since switched over to what Patreon has called Charge Up Front. Here is info from Patreon:
"Charge upfront is an option for monthly creators that allows them to charge their patrons immediately upon pledging. We offer this option because once a patron pledges to a creator, they immediately have access to all posts available to the tier they pledged to. This includes posts made prior to their membership. This feature is not available for creators that charge per creation."
"New Patrons will be charged on the day they become your patron, giving them access to all content shared with their reward tier. On the 1st of the following month, they will simply return to being charged monthly at the beginning of the month. Existing patrons will be charged on the 1st of the month like usual. If they edit their membership, this won't trigger them to be charged, however, they will be charged their total membership amount on the 1st. After your first month of charging patrons upfront, when a patron increases their membership, they'll immediately be charged the difference between their recent payment and new membership value."
My apologies if this made things confusing for anyone, but unfortunately some folks felt they had to try to rig the system in their favor, and that just isn't fair to everyone. Thank you all to the folks who have been continuing to support me financially and with positive words. Happy holidays and give each other lots of hugs. =)

As the others have stated, you do not need to be sorry for protecting yourself from asshats. This is a common problem and most of the creators I sub to have gone to this model for the same damn reason.

2021-12-13 14:53:17 +0000 UTCNo worries Paul, as for the asshats &@%#ing with your bread and butter, I hope they get slapped in the groin with a bear trap.

2021-12-13 05:01:26 +0000 UTCSeems a fair response to me. I don't mind up front, your content is worth the price.

2021-12-12 19:14:09 +0000 UTCSorry to hear about people “gaming” the system, when the ‘system’ happens to be the artist/creator.

2021-12-12 18:37:37 +0000 UTCAll good as far as I'm concerned. I have set my pledge amount and left it there.

2021-12-12 18:36:15 +0000 UTCNo worries, Paul. I've already got a couple of artists subscribed who do pay up front, never had any problems with it. Your work is worth it.

2021-12-12 04:09:24 +0000 UTCI've been debating for a while about trying out the $10 tier and tbh this post has me decided to do it out of solidarity. When someone samples content, it's only right to pay an artist properly for it. You have my respect as well as my coin, sir.

2021-12-12 04:02:27 +0000 UTCGood call. Honestly, this is practically a necessity for anyone providing content in the way that you do.

2021-12-12 01:29:17 +0000 UTCI don't plan on in the foreseeable future having a tier above $10. I mean it's cool if folks want to pledge more than that per month, but I won't ask more than $10 to see stuff like I've been showing.

2021-12-12 01:18:54 +0000 UTCPond scum. All of them. It's not like this tier is going to break anyone's bank (although it is kinda at my limit, so I hope you don't raise it. Um). And for them to keep doing it now that you're going through hard times is just extra shitty. *sigh* Glad you were/are able to bust up their little game.

2021-12-12 00:57:18 +0000 UTCOuch. Dick move. :( Hard to imagine somebody who's enough of a fan to go to the trouble of getting on Patreon for this content, but not enough of a fan to respect what you're asking for for compensation.

2021-12-12 00:24:51 +0000 UTCThere's allways going to be assholes, doing asshole things. If this is how you stop them, then so be it.

2021-12-11 23:38:35 +0000 UTCUnderstandable, shame on those taking advantage of the system
