I can't speak for anyone but myself, but please don't feel bad about 'taking a break'. You produce an enormous amount of content and those breaks are important. I signed up for Patreon to show my support. Any additional content (for me) is a bonus. Also, congrats on the new (upcoming) addition to your family!!

I'm exactly the same! Hopefully others follow in our footsteps too.

We're on the same page. I just subscribed today (I've been away for months) after debating for a while and the only things drawing me here are the support for Wood and the Bonus Episodes. The Discord server is a huge surprise, I'm not sure if I'm in the minority or I just completely forgot about it, let alone the merch drops, vlogs etc. I don't think they need to be adding anymore, the package I have right now is superb.

Yes I think the expectations are different now than early Patreon. If Patreon gives me an ad free feed and special voting/participation options that’s fine for me. FWIW this show is the only other show where I actually do listen to the bonus content, because I feel like it’s a fun peek behind the curtain and it isn’t too long. It isn’t that I don’t love shows like, say, talking simpsons but their bonus content is like 6 hours long a pop. I will never clear that out of my podcast queue lol

I'm sort of on the same page as you. I supported at first to support and for some "bonus" episodes, but upped to the higher tier because I didn't want the podcast to die. I think the option of some other things is nice, but not needed. BUT... if we're the outliers and extras are what gets more patreons...maybe do some extras. I dunno.

Skoot spent $10 on a girl dinner... I love the Skootish calls, they never disappoint. LOL Pokemon Prismatic? That's almost worse than the Wicked Stanley videos I saw. Yikes. A thought on Patreon things: You could set up a separate tier for those who WANT to opt in to "extras". That way if someone just wants to support to support they can, and you're not spending time/money that isn't needed or wanted. IMO $5/month for some bonus episodes seems appropriate. Anything past that could be simply wanting to support more, or looking for "extras" past the bonus episodes.

Re. The want to do more “for” the Patreon supporters- maybe my opinion is unpopular but I don’t support creators to get more and exclusive stuff or content per se. I already have too much content to get through my whole queue lol. I treat Patreon like pbs. I am just supporting stuff I like. I don’t need “more” necessarily. I do appreciate things like polls that have an impact on content etc (eg. “vote on the next thing on the show”) but I don’t need material stuff (stickers). I just want the stuff I love to be the best it can be without boring shit like finances preventing it from going hard. I am very curious if other people that support creators on Patreon feel the same or not!

Loving the podcast lately guys, I really think you've turned a corner and found your stride. Hams been great, kims really added massively to the vibe and consistancy, wood you have always done great, don't put so much pressure on yourself, let everyone involved have their time and don't feel you need to "fill the time" or dictate the flow. You've all done a great job of getting to a more natural new normal following bobs departure. I actually loved a lot of the guest episodes but you have definitely hit that new standard I think you guys were trying to find

Here's the thing about the pokemon trading card issue (and to a lesser extent any living card trading card game with rare finds). I get it, this is supposed to be a "kids" franchise, but what you need to understand is some of these kids have grown up over 20 year with this and those adults were the kids you would have been defending 20 years ago. Why should they feel second place to children of today when this is and has ways been marketed towards them as much as the children of today? Scalpers are an issue in general when it comes to limited items but the real issue here is the modal on which trading card games are based. Its deliberately limited to increase the value and with that these issues are going to exist. No one ever blames companies like pokemon for these issues when in fact it is them that are manufacturing the supply/demand issue which causes this insane behaviour. If pokemon cards weren't so hard to come by or the rares weren't so rare, then we wouldn't have this issue. The whole issue is manafactured and yet we blame the consumer. I've loved the pokemon franchise for a long time but I always find it unbelievable that we are blaming the consumer for the issues that the pokemon company is actively profiting from in a very deliberate and calculated way.

Been a massive fan of you Wood since 2017. I thought now was the best time to join the Patreon with the excitement building for the Switch 2. Being in this Patreon makes it that bit more exciting for me.
