Sacred Gear Omnitrix Ch. 10

Chapter 10: The Burning Clash.

-0-

The battlefield was silent—at least for a moment. Smoke curled around the ruins where Freed had once stood, his Excalibur reduced to glowing embers. Even Kokabiel, who had been relentlessly attacking Rias and the others, stopped mid-air. His gaze turned sharply toward me, disbelief painted all over his face.

“It seems Valper’s speculations were right,” he finally muttered, his tone carrying both amusement and caution. Slowly, he descended through the air, his wings spreading wide as he approached.

Rias, Akeno, Issei, Xenovia, Kiba and Irina were all down, exhausted and beaten. None of them had the strength to continue fighting. Kokabiel, however, seemed entirely unfazed—until he saw what I had done.

He smiled darkly. “Join me,” he said, voice smooth and venomous. “I can grant you anything—power, women, wealth. Name it, and it’s yours.”

I tilted my head slightly, letting out a tired breath. His smug face reminded me of my fifth-grade crush, right before she rejected me in front of everyone.

“Sorry, buddy,” I said with a half-grin, “but this hot stuff only cooks alone.”

His grin disappeared instantly. A sharp glare replaced it, thick with killing intent. The air around him vibrated as his power spiked.

“If you refuse me,” Kokabiel hissed, “then you can bite my power.”

A massive magic circle flared to life beneath him, its light spilling across the battlefield like an eclipse. From it, a swarm of monstrous shadows emerged—Cerberus.Four of them, each one snarling with three heads and jaws filled with blades of teeth. Their growls echoed like thunder as they surrounded me.

“Let my pets devour you like the snack you are,” Kokabiel sneered.

The horde lunged at once, all teeth and rage. Flames burst from my hands still transformed into Heatblast, but the fire barely singed them. Their hides resisted the heat.

“Tch… fine,” I muttered. My hand slammed the Omnitrix, and in a flash of green light, crystal replaced fire.

Diamondhead.

I stood firm, the ground beneath me sparkling with reflection. Rias and the others could only watch, their eyes wide.

“He didn’t tap this time,” Issei said quietly, his focus entirely on me.

I crouched low and pressed my palm against the ground. The earth shimmered, and spikes of pure crystal erupted outward like a rising tide. The Cerberus screamed as they were impaled one after another, dissolving into flickers of light and magicules.

“Impossible…” Kokabiel’s voice wavered. “With one attack?”

The last of the beasts vanished. The air went still again—but not for long. A faint green glow hovered where the Cerberus had fallen. I blinked as four small, box-shaped holograms appeared, rotating slowly above the ground.

Curiosity got the better of me. I reached out and tapped the first one.

A flash—then my form changed again, crystals melting away as I curled into a silver shell.

“Cannonbolt?” I muttered, rolling forward a bit before stabilizing. “Wow… so cool.”

Three more boxes appeared. I reached for them, one by one. Each touch brought a new transformation—Eye Guy, Ditto, and finally… Upchuck.

I stared down at my small, round, frog-like body and sighed. “Well, this looks lame.”

Kokabiel let out a cruel laugh. “That’s your grand transformation?” he mocked, holding his side. “How disappointing.”

“Yeah, yeah,” I said with a smirk. “Keep laughing.”

He conjured another light spear—this one massive, burning brighter than the sun—and hurled it straight at me.

Without hesitation, I opened my mouth and swallowed it whole.

The explosion never came. Kokabiel froze midair, his face pale. “What? Did you just—consume my beam?”

I burped softly. “What do you think? Delicious. Keep them coming.” Who knew magic was that delicious.

Rias and the others looked stunned. Issei grinned from the sidelines. “Whoo, dude, that’s sick!”

Kokabiel roared, summoning a storm of light spears and firing them all at once. Each time, I devoured them effortlessly. My stomach bulged comically for a moment before I patted it down.

“You think that’s cool?” I said, feeling the energy churn inside me. “Watch this.”

I opened my mouth wide and spat the digested back out as explosive acid. It sprayed across the sky, splashing over Kokabiel’s wings as he used them to himself. He screamed as the flesh burned away, the radiant feathers melting instantly as he lost his ability to fly descending to the ground.

“My wings! My beautiful wings!” His voice cracked in agony. “You… you monster!”

“Guess they weren’t fireproof,” I said, transforming once more. Wildvine’s vines lashed forward, coiling around Kokabiel and pinning him in place. Before he could break free, I switched again—Four Arms.

The ground cracked beneath me as I drove my fist into his face. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, and Kokabiel went down instantly, unconscious.

I exhaled slowly. “Well, that was easy.” I brushed the dust off my hands, satisfied.

Around me, the others began to recover. Relief washed over their faces, though curiosity quickly followed.

“It seems you’ve mastered how to use it,” Rias said, her voice soft but impressed. Her clothes were torn, one sleeve barely holding together. I noticed—unfortunately—more than I should’ve, a boob hanging out and my red fur only made my blush worse.

Akeno strolled closer, her smile teasing. Her uniform was even more damaged, and she seemed to enjoy how flustered I looked. “Is it me, or are you turning redder by the second?” Asia asked innocently. I quickly waved her off.

Akeno’s gaze lingered as she examined my form. “Intriguing,” she said, tracing a finger along my arm. “Such a muscular body… wouldn’t mind you wrapping those arms around me.”

My face nearly combusted. Issei, of course, looked like he was dying of jealousy—but even he couldn’t look away from the transformations.

“Dude,” he said, rubbing his head, “you can turn willingly now? That’s wild. When I saw you sprout wings earlier, I thought you were a devil, but… guess I was hit too hard to be sure.”

He wasn’t the only one wondering. Everyone’s eyes were on me.

I deactivated the Omnitrix, my human form reappearing. Then, with a deep breath, I spread my devil wings behind me.

The group stared in silence.

“Whoa, dude!” Issei shouted. “I knew it! But… how? You didn’t make a contract with Rias or any devil I know.”

I raised my wrist, showing the Omnitrix. “Thank to this little bad boy,” I said. “It rewrote my DNA during a life-threatening situation. Turned me into one.”

“That’s sick,” Issei said, his eyes sparkling. “I wish we could exchange Sacred Gears right now—”

A sharp punch to his jaw from Koneko shut him up instantly. “No way,” she muttered. “Your pervertedness would destroy the world.”

She imagined him turning into XLR8 and immediately regretted it.

Just when things began to settle, the air around us shifted. A new energy appeared—pure, calm, and heavy. A white-armored figure descended from above, glowing blue wings spread wide.

“Seems Ophis was right,” the figure said, voice deep and steady. “You really defeated Kokabiel. Your Sacred Gear is… truly special.”

Vali Lucifer.

Everyone tensed as he hovered over the school grounds. My eyes narrowed, and the Omnitrix flared once more.

In an instant, I was XLR8.

Vali crossed his arms, smiling faintly. “With your power,” he said, his gaze locked on me, “we could surely take down that overgrown red lizard.”

His words hung in the air like a challenge—and I could already tell this wasn’t over.
