Halloween '22 update

Well, here's a little something.  I just finished unloading a truckload of the last of Garndma and Grandpa's stuff.  He got accepted to a nursing home for the bargain price of 5100 or 51000 a month.  I forget which.  For that kind of money I'd accept anybody too.

I don't know what the shape of the future is, but hopefully I won't be randomly taking care of my aged relatives for years at a time anytime soon.   Those of you who stuck with me through this have my heartfelt thanks.  It's been one of the worst periods of my life, but I at least had support from outside.

I'd like to get back to my actual story, but I may just do some more random things until I feel like I can handle the bigger story again.  I guess we'll see.  I hope we get to see together.

Hey, Jackie, I spent 4 years living with Mom after her dementia got too severe for her to live alone any more, taking care of her, my disabled and bedridden wife, and four cats (two ours, two Mom's). I *totally* understand what you've been going through, and I'm so glad to hear you guys have found a nursing home for your granddad. Take as much time as you need to recover from all that stress before returning to the main story.

Chris W.

Not much I can add, here; others have pretty much covered it already. I wish you the best and hope you can get your life back on track, soon.

I know you have been doing your best looking after your grandpa, but you have also been burning yourself out in the process. If the nursing home is offering good care, then definitely it is worth it. It also takes the burden off you from being a full-time carer, to allow you to get yourself right again as well. I suspect you will also be keeping an eye on his health and wellbeing, but we always look out for family (especially when they matter in your life). You remember to look after yourself as well, and take care.

It takes time to recover from something like that. Don't rush it.

Take care of you and yours.

Hopefully things will get easier for you. You earned a break long ago.

NeoChomik

You did a great job with the comics you made while doing the caregiver bit. (that's not easy. I'm doing the caregiver bit myself right now) I'd suggest continuing the light-duty comic for a couple of weeks longer in order to take care of yourself and generally recover. You've been noting but entertaining. It's been interesting to watch you reiterate the evolution of most webcomics. Starting with joke-each-day comics that evolve into short and increasingly long and complex plotlines.

Man, I feel what you've been through. I've had all four of my grandparents living in my home at one point or another.

Very happy to hear that you will no longer have that dreadful weight on your shoulders. You have gone through a lot in the last couple years; please remember to take care of yourself first.

Phil

So glad to hear you found a nursing home for your grandfather! Best wishes for him in his new home and especially for you to have your own home back again. Still loving the "digressions." I'd love to see more of the Christian coffee shop.

Ellie

Don't feel like you need to rush back to anything, sounds like you're getting a bit of a break now- you more than deserve it, take that time for you!

Take the time you need for yourself. You've done well.
