Hey everybody. This week I got to work on a scene I've been looking forward to for a long time: the official reintroduction of our blonde LI. And I don't know about you guys, but a woman lazing around eating cold cereal and watching movies on a Sunday afternoon is a woman after my own heart. Ordinarily I might say these previews are spoilers, but I think since she's front and center on the main menu it's not exactly a shocker that MC was going to run into her again at some point.
I hope that I'm able to depict this reunion both realistically and responsibly (i.e. not narratively exploitative of her status as a victim). Saving damsels in distress is obviously a well-worn AVN trope, but I've noticed that in many stories the damsel is immediately thrilled and excited with having been rescued, gushing over the MC. While I've never been a damsel in distress, this feels unrealistic to me. Getting assaulted is an awful experience, whether or not somebody intervenes. So when I wrote the basketball court scene, I tried to depict a woman who was very emotional and eager to leave--not ready to gratefully suck the MC's dick.
However, when they meet again a few weeks will have passed since that event, and if you recall, she stopped to flirt with him even before he rescued her, so it should not be any surprise that she would now regard him with a great degree of affection. That's not to say she's already in love and ready to have sex with him; rather, if MC wants a relationship with her, he'll have to get to know her first.
Furthermore, the event is still traumatic for her, a fact I initially overlooked in my first draft. When I first wrote this reunion scene months ago, she WAS gushing to Aghavni about how amazing he had been in action. And then I realized I was being an idiot and writing it like a porn game, and that isn't how she would act at all. So now her response to him is measured. She is excited to see him again, and she is by nature a fun and light-hearted character. But dwelling on the event is uncomfortable for her, so I don't think she would be interested in giving an enthusiastic play-by-play to Aghavni. Hopefully I'll be able to present this balance convincingly.
I'll still be working on this scene during the coming week.
Okay, that's it for now. Thank you all for your support!
