Developer's Journal 2:27

Well guys, we are at Dev Journal #27 for this update.  To my own psychological detriment, that is a long time to go between releases.

There's something very motivating about releasing a new update.  Assuming the update is well-received, the developer gets positive feedback on something he just spent months working very hard to put together.  The developer is also rewarded by the feeling that his financial supporters have been validated.

At this point I've been working for over six months on this update and no one has seen any of it yet.  As hard as I've been working, I am looking forward to people playing it and, hopefully, appreciating it.  But for now, I just have to be patient and follow my plan, trusting that, even though I have so much content already finished, sticking to my schedule is still the best thing for the game.

Anyway, this week I faced big sources of stress at work and in my personal life which left me less time than normal to work on the game.  Compounding that was the nature of the scene I worked on which you see a preview from--these were four to five hour renders and I had to redo them multiple times.  So, while there was progress this week, it was slow progress.

Still, we are getting closer to the finish line.  A big thank you to all of you for supporting this project and for your patience while I try to make it the best it can be.

I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully there are less stressful days ahead soon. Sure, everyone would love shorter release cycles, but things are what they are. If nothing else, AVNs have made me more patient, I am not worried about long release cycles. As always, the preview image looks great, especially the god rays and the lightning coming from the left, superb.

Take it easy: work stress plus life stress can be very tough. Normally, you can take refuge in one when the other is bad... simultaneous stress is no good. We're here to support you... don't worry about self-imposed deadlines!
