Developer's Journal 3:22

Hey everybody.  Last week I said I'd finish the restaurant part of the Gina scene and then work on the lewd part.  Instead, I hired another Daz artist to do the lewd part of the bonus scene.  This allows me to keep working on the main story without losing two weeks or more, because the lewd scenes are a lot of work.  I don't think I'd ever turn over one of the real sex scenes with the main girls to another artist, but I think for a bonus dream scene it's okay.

I'm behind the schedule I had set for myself.  I've already blown past my first release date goal (yesterday) but I'm really pushing hard to meet my new goal (not announced).  I had requested to take next week off of work so I could focus on the game, but now I'm going to have to work at my job at least through Wednesday, and probably all week.  I thought when I started working on this game that it would take me a couple of years.  I knew that was a big commitment, but I was willing to do it.  Now, despite all my hard work, this looks more like a four year game.  That thought is both frustrating and exhausting, not so much because I worry the fans are going to lose interest, but because it's just a really long time to be working this hard on a single creative project.

Well, don't worry guys.  Dory and I know just what to do.

Thank you for your support. 🙂

Thanks Callisto.

Don't sacrifice at your day job too much, Monk... I'm concerned that you're putting too much pressure on yourself to hit particular release dates or milestones. Your backers want you to realize your vision... there's no time limit.

Like probably most of us, I'm familiar with thoughts that are both exhausting and frustrating, and that's certainly not good, especially as an outlook for the next few years. Unfortunately, I don't have anything that could be helpful here. Leaving DNA is one of the most intriguing AVNs I've ever encountered, and I really hope you'll find a modus operandi with an outlook that's less exhausting and frustrating. Whatever the future holds, I will be forever grateful for all the effort you have already put in and for the great time I have had with it. A big thank you.

I appreciate it, V.G.

Keep it up. With every development experience it should be faster and easier to do the next scene etc. It is also ok to lower the goals or expectations, timeline as to burn and stop what you doing. Perfectionists really have a hard time doing something because of way too hard expectations for themselves. It is good to see such serious attitude and commitment, but if it isn't main job, don't ruin life for it. People know development of such games takes a lot of time.
