Developer's Journal 4:8

Hey everybody. I had sort of a brutal week at work, but I still found time to work on the game.

I've been working mostly on Emmeline content for the last few weeks. Episode Four focuses a lot on Emmeline and between Episodes Three and Four we will see her travel on a mini character arc of her own.

I like working with Emmeline. Not only do I like her model, but I think that her character is an earnest, caring, and unassuming person. She's a quietly cheery companion, and she's the type of person I would like to have as a friend if I were ever in a bad emotional place. I also think that she can be an important influence on the MC's growth. Given the conflicted feelings she expressed in Episode Three about her own conduct towards her father, she can empathize with the MC's struggle to overcome the demons of his past despite their detrimental impact on his relationships. The MC's friendship with Emmeline is a major component of Leaving DNA's story and will see significant growth in Episode Four.

That's all for this week. Thank you for your support!

Emmeline reminds me of my little sister which is why I play the "protector" route with her but I definitely understand what you mean. Thanks for the update and hope your issue at work get resolved

If it's different once in a while it's still different. It's like in a game when there's something different or some mechanics it breaks the routine

Thanks Jacek! I have lots of boring updates too, though--I only have so much stuff to talk about. 😆

Another interesting point from you. That's why your updates are different. Personally I think every girls is unique both physically and in terms of story. I already know I'll try every ending. Thanks and keep it up

Thanks Merlin!

I find this very interesting. I always expect that if the story is well written the players will get very attached to the characters (myself included). The developer being attached to a character is something I had never thought of. It makes perfect sense though. How could you write a story this good if you did not care about the characters on some level?
