Well, hello there, generous patrons :)

I thought I'd start us off with HD uploads of the past five pages. I worked very hard on this particular sequence, as I saw it as the pay-off for the last nine chapters, ever since the Red Berry Boys and the kidnapped, disembowelled folks were introduced way back in the second chapter. This is the reality-breaking culmination of Starfish's smuggling operation, and the unfortunate end of Stockyard's ambition.

More immediately, all of chapters 9 and 10 led to this moment. You can go back and see plenty of foreshadowing as the silver first crept its way out of the tormented people in the cart, into the ceiling of the underground docks, and then into the brothel's very foundations, finally erupting through the floorboards of Stockyard's office. Even the hand-teeth were foreshadowed when Toby was startled by the little boy's disembodied hand in chapter 9 (in the original script I was going to have his severed head fall out instead, but wisely changed that, I think). The multiplying eels were given their due as well, hovering ominously over the roof of the Nevergreen and snaking through the streets too.

I chose to give the First Silver a higher degree of finish in the colouring department. Both to make it stand out from the rest of the elements - which was important, as there is a lot happening in the First Silver scenes - and to stress its Otherness. Like the environment of the khert, the First Silver doesn't really belong to this more graphically rendered world. It's a remnant of another world, and its presence here is being exploited, an idea we'll get into more later.
