Sette's preeeetty quick to duck into Duane's cloak, much more so than she's ever been in the past. I think last night's brush with vengeful ghosts and lustful Starfish is still far too fresh in her head.

Iori is my favourite character this chapter though, for real. She probably shouldn't be blaming herself for what happened with Dani, but I think an argument could be made that it was a little selfish letting her grieving husband stew in that workshop of his for so long, watching the world through a glowing rock, obsessing over a dead project and a dead son while she played pretend with her fake grandbabies. Of course something bad was going to happen eventually.

And Rahm's no angel. One rotten thing he did that becomes obvious if you give it a good think, was letting Matty and Jivi go to the cops. Rahm knew they were on the take, knew they were working with Stockyard, and must have known they'd capture Matty and Jivi. But Rahm also knew the kids and Quigley stood to interfere with Bastion's doings, so he let them go and even facilitated it by crafting Matty his beglamoured necklace.

Originally I had him point this out to Bastion in their last scene together, but I cut it to keep things moving.

Iori's much too good for him. Sucks that you can't help who you fall in love with.

So he's got about what, 35 pages before his grisly death?

BizzAnon

wasn't there a monologue as to that nature about 40 pages ago?

Can I just say... I so love what you do with water!

Well, he's made some bad choices and they've cost him a lot. He didn't react well to those costs and he's let bitterness eat away a lot of his humanity. But his life's not over, he still has someone who cares about him a great deal, and redemption is never out of anyone's grasp. As long as someone is there to hold a hand out to us, we can be pulled out of even the deepest pit. Or so I like to think.

It's funny. I so wanted to like Rahm, wanted him to be heroic. But he's not.
