I enjoy when the reader knows things the characters don't. In Unsounded it seems like it's almost always the opposite.
Poor Quigley though, he can't catch a break. At least he's being reported as dead so her Majesty isn't likely to send a kill-squad after him. He was a pretty convenient scapegoat though, and well-known to Crescian leadership as a fairly powerful, fairly dickish loose cannon with at least some motivation to do Alderode's bidding, as Ufal points out.
And in all fairness, he DID start out on the bad guys' side.
Yeah, I take back the "poor Quigley." Bad Quigley!
