Roger's 33. Crescian Queens do not typically bear their own children. They’re far too busy for the distraction of pregnancy, and it would put them at a dreadful health risk. Instead they use surrogates or, more typically, adopt war orphans. It’s the Sonorie name that’s important. Succession is determined not by primogeniture but by the discrimination of the living Queen, High Priestess, Lord General, and Chancellor. Having a pool of viable candidates gives them options though it can result in the expected squabbles. It does require that these leaders though - the head of the State, the head of the Church, the head of the Military, and the liaison to the Nobles - remain on good terms.
