TFW you think you've met a rare, rational spiderpaw and she still refuses to see how much happier she'd be if she didn't have a head full of regrets.

Oh, I'm loving him.

Oh, that makes sense! So he's saying "your gods won't fix your grief, but I objectively can because removing things from minds is my shtick"? I love that he sees grief as a defect--more weird alien perspective stuff.

Ruck meant that the gods could fix her grief, as if it's a defect of humans like the flu or cancer. Which to him it is. Her Majesty isn't terminally ill but she's of an advanced age and so practically "in the ground" as far as ageless Ruckmearkha can discern. Why is she wasting her precious time with tears over some dead woman?

God, Ruck pages are so good. Weird alien speech patterns and weird alien perspectives are my favorite. Couple interesting things here: - Ruck uses the same phrasing as Ilganyag did to refer to the humans' gods, so apparently that's not unique to her - When he says he must live until the end, I wonder--does he just mean he doesn't want to die, or is he anticipating some specific event at "the end" that he wants to be around for? - I initially thought it was just that humans are like mayflies to him, but given that he asks if she prays to the gods to "fix her," Ruck seems to be implying that Sonorie is terminally ill. Maybe that's why she's so desperate to gain an edge over Alderode now. Also, for shame, Sonorie. You don't have a moral pedestal to stand on here.
