The Lady's observations on Time are ones that have vexed me in the past. No matter how brilliantly happy are at any given moment, you don't hold on to it. Tomorrow you'll be on the hunt for your next fix, and the memory is a dry bone with less and less flavour the more you gnaw on it.
In a world where Time wasn't fixed, you could visit your most blissful moments at will; live in them as long as you wanted. To have that navigable ocean taken away from you and replaced by an inescapable river that flows in one direction only must be rather miserable.
