Thanks for the kindness last update. I was so nervous about doing those two prose pages but everyone was really supportive and put my mind at ease about them. I had figured they were okay since they were really just a bunch of dialogue balloons in paragraph format - as opposed to me pathetically narrating a history lesson. I'm glad a lot of people agreed.
I've never at all minded prose in comics. The first time I saw it was in an issue of an old indie comic called Strangers in Paradise back in the nineties. It kind of blew my baby brain, as I'd only read Marvel and Disney comics until that point, and hadn't realised there really was no reason not to add prose, if it was appropriate. Rules. Who needs 'em?
All the same, we won't get that again until the halfway point of the chapter :)
I find bloody-faced Duane pretty rad, I am weak.

You've compressed so much into those two words, "War's rouge." A brilliant, sardonic way to say it's somebody else's blood spattered on your face. So very much the Duane we know - and yet he didn't make it up on the spot, or if he did, he knows the other soldier will get his meaning instantly. He is -- we are -- in a culture where such verbal flourishes are normal.
