A lot of people ask Lemuel, when he's older, how he got the scar on his face. He has an assortment of grand stories he'll tell but only Duane knows the truth. And Duane never tells it when he's asked - he always tells them to go bother Lemuel for the tale.

I love that Duane just instinctively protects his young charges. And also that Lem was looking out for them too, by turning the Jet's scary stories into a joke to lighten their mood (even though that ended badly, through no fault of Lem's). I personally think these folks need some better regles de guerre...
