2024-03-19 21:33:34 +0000 UTCAfter season comes the theatrical 2004 movie, which you two have already viewed. As I've already stated, classic fans like me regard the original era (1999-2004, consisting of the first three seasons, the 2004 movie, and all tie-in games and books at the time) as the better classic era of SpongeBob. Then you get the not-so-liked first post-movie era from season 4 all the way up to the first half of season 9 (2005-2015), where Stephen Hillenburg (along with most of the original creative staff) left the show, and the show itself very much dropped in quality, only rarely featuring decent episodes (season 4 in particular has its highs and its lows), but mostly featuring ones with unfunny, uncreative, and uninspired stuff, not to mention annoyingly exaggerating character traits. However, things recently looked up with the most recent era, consisting of the second movie (Sponge Out of Water) and the second half of season 9 all the way up to season 12, where Stephen himself actually returned to the show!
