Hope in the Dark

Our pastor did a series on Hope in the Dark. It occurred to me that it is so relatable to so many which is why it hit so many people. It can be in different ways, but there doesn’t seem to be a shortage on darkness in the world.
He said he is talking to kids in kindergarten, 1-3rd grades that are expressing anxiety and questions about death. For the most part, many of us didn’t grow up thinking about things like that. But the virus and our responses to it, along with many other things going on in politics and the world have caused a great disruption to peace and any sense of harmony.
One of the things that I keep thinking of from Pastor Seth’s sermon is about all the names of God. Names in the Bible described aspects of character. There are many names for God throughout but they express different qualities.
When we are lost, He is our shepherd.
When we are in sorrow, He is our comforter.
When we feel weak, He is our tower of refuge, our stronghold.
He meets every single need we have in every single way.
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
