ACTION
Added 2022-02-14 12:01:02 +0000 UTCI’ve probably talked about this so much over the years, but it still applies to me now.
Living in the tension of doing and being can be a challenge.
I grew up with the mentality that I don’t need to do anything for my salvation. I just need to believe. This is true.
However, at the same time, we are supposed to “work out” our salvation with fear and trembling.
How can both exist at the same time? We know that we are saved from eternal death and damnation by believing. But, to have “salvation” in its other form have its full effect, there is the action that must take place. Of course, it still happens through the power of the Spirit working in us, but if we want to live the best life there is a lot of ACTION referred to in the Word.
From some of my reading today in 1 Peter 5 starting at verse 8.
I journaled like this:
The verse say I am to:
➡️ Be sober-minded
➡️ Be alert
➡️ Take a decisive stand against the enemy
➡️ Resist the enemy’s every attack with strong and vigorous faith
Then God will:
➡️ personally and powerfully restore me and me stronger than ever
➡️ set me firmly in place and build me up.
God has ALL the power to do this. AND, He makes His home in us! Astounding! So, we have to believe that and then take action according to what He says.
How? I think we each know when we are not being sober-minded, alert, decisive or resisting the enemy with faith.
I go back to verses that remind me that suffering produces many blessings….temporary pain often leads to a much better outcome. Don't’ live shortsighted or in the moment like a spoiled brat lol.
Thankfully He has grace to fill in all the cracks. But let’s now just keep letting life pass by without taking action! He lives in us so it’s up to us whether to cooperate or resist!
