Determination

Good morning!

Beginning this year, the word Determination rang in my head as I prayed. How interesting it is that just that word will remind me over and over what is needed for the moment I am in. So much of what goes on in the world, both globally and personally, is a huge Distraction.

This morning as I read in Luke out of The Passion Translation, I smiled….

Jesus passionately determined to leave for Jerusalem, and let nothing distract Him from fulfilling His mission there….. (Luke 9:51 TPT)

Jesus repeatedly showed us the way to live…through His love for the outcasts, in His approach to people who others deemed “unworthy,” through His regular times of stepping away to be alone with the Father, through His unwavering devotion to stay the course all the way to being tortured and put to death. All of it was to let those of us who feel like “outcasts”, “unworthy”, and “broken” know that He came for us.

Just as He was determined and let nothing distract Him, I repeatedly pray for this as my mission….to let people know this same message.

It was funny, for a moment I thought “was my word Determination? And where in the Bible did that verse tell me that?” I literally opened my Bible to just the place: Hebrews 12…….So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.
