Rule for Life

One of the consistent things I love to study is our minds. Those habit tracks and neural connections make such a huge difference in how our lives play out.

Our pastor talked about the different aspects of what make us up: Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Social.

Each of these areas we can fine tune and work on and this is what I would call learning how to be “fit” in our wellbeing.

As I dissected each of these areas for me, I could see how certain areas are more lacking and why that contributes to feeling “off.” I love that he said we can keep deconstructing and reconstructing these areas.

Developing a “Rule” for Life means that we have a plan to be committed and create a lifestyle.

“Rule” can also be thought of as a “trellis” in that it is a framework or structure to help us to grow.

Pastor mentioned that we tend to either be more or less structured in that framework, but if we recognize that about ourselves and then make use of that, it can help us grow from immaturity to maturity.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42

Some of the hallmarks of the early followers of Jesus was their devotion to teaching, fellowship, spending time together communing and also celebrating communion and prayer.
