Good morning!
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
In follow up to my message the other day about love, this verse really pops out at me every time I read it.
Could we possibly love like this? When someone is really rotten to you (what we might call a ‘sinner’) could we love them enough to die for them? I don’t really see that happening. Even worse, maybe I would do that….just maybe…on my very best day lol. But, to die for a rotten person who treated my child poorly? Oh wow, NOW we don’t want to mess with Mama Bear lol.
But this is how God demonstrated His powerful, gravitational, unexplainable love…..He has His son die for us while we were still rotten, mean, shutting Him out, maybe cursing Him, maybe mad at Him, maybe shunning Him. He still said I love you this much.
How could we ever imagine this kind of love? I don’t know if our human minds can grasp it. But we at least need to accept it. It will wash away all that rotten stuff in and on us and that is what we all need.
