Good morning!
My friend has had some curiously long battles with health with her kids. Sometimes it just makes you wonder. The interesting thing that she points out often is that they receive lots of reports, lab results, diagnoses……but the actual manifestation of these health issues doesn’t usually amount to the fearful prognosis.
In other words, despite all of these doctors appointments and lab testing, her kids remain what would appear to be pretty healthy. There are, of course, many things to consider and this is where it is difficult. What are the preventable things that could be done? What kind of preparations should be made for treatment, if that is even possible? The endless questions without definite answers is exhausting, as you might imagine.
My friend continues to express the feelings that come with all of this but also finds these amazing truths mixed into all of it. She and her kids are loving, vibrant and blessed. She knows that God loves her kids even more than she does and so she can trust Him.
The incredible attitude that I get to witness always reminds me of where our focus needs to remain: on the God who is still sovereign. He is loving and kind and gracious and compassionate. This life is short but eternity is oh-so-long. How we move through these battles matters.
I am grateful for her example of being real and yet filled with hope. She can be pulled down just like the rest of us, but her faith remains.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
