Our flawless Lamb

Good morning!

There are so many cool deeper things in the Bible that unfold as you keep reading and learning. Pastor Jim has given me many amazing insights. I am blown away by so many details that just keep on coming out!

Passover was the time that the Israelites put the blood of a sacrificial lamb on their doorposts to indicate that they were God’s people and not to be touched by the angel of death. All through the Old Testament, lambs were slaughtered and their blood was used as atonement for the sins of the people. Those lambs were raised to be flawless. During those days, the priesthood extended the time of slaughter from noon to twilight because there were so many lambs to be killed. (sorry animal lovers!)

Jesus came and was the Passover Lamb sacrificed for us to atone for our sin. But this time it was permanent and He made the way so that priests no longer had to stand between the people and God to do this ritualist blood sacrifice. Jesus did it once and for all. He was the flawless lamb. And, He was on the cross from noon to twilight. What an amazing parallel!

“And it was now almost noon. And it was the same day they were preparing to slay the Passover lambs. Then Pilate said to the Jewish officials, ‘Look! Here is your king!;” John 19:14

Thank You, Jesus, for coming to earth and for sacrificing once and for all for us!

Amen! That precious blood of the Lamb that washes away our sin (and our sin nature) was shed for us so that we could be restored to a loving relationship of freedom with our Creator Father, not so we could spend time in religious prison of guilt and shame. Jesus was born as a sacrificial lamb. We celebrate His birth soon, let's do it in joy and freedom. Thanks Sister for this message today!
