Good morning!
I have been blessed to have personal conversations with people who have a diverse background from me. I always thank God for that because it is one of the beautiful things about stepping outside of your comfort zone: you are in a position to have more than you could have imagined if you’d stayed safe!
Praying about this, I was asking God why I get this opportunity. My willingness to put myself out there and be honest and try to dispel any notion that I’m perfect may have something to do with it. I don’t relate to perfect people. I often see how people who think they are “better” than someone else talk to other people. I am certain they would never claim to be better, but that is the way it comes off.
I think the more that we are willing to look at our imperfections dead on and have so much joy that God loves us despite all of that, we can look at other people with the same kind of love He has for us.
Getting rid of divisions might start with admitting to our own mistakes, problems and issues. Taking them to God for grace and mercy and then turning around and giving to others what we would want to receive….I wonder if we can edge closer to this?
Truly, to love our neighbor as yourself means loving people outside your comfort zone, putting yourself in situations that might not be easy, but will allow conversations to unfold. Let’s do more of that!
