Good morning!
I’m stealing my Pastor’s outline for this message and a future video :) I don’t think he will mind. Thank you, Pastor Seth! I hold onto his outlines and then when I revisit them I always have added benefits!
There is a lot of talk in the Bible about the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of heaven.
I always have stopped to think what does that mean actually?
When Jesus came, the Jews thought He would come as a typical King and start squashing people. But Jesus’ Kingdom is not based on the way people think of Kings and Kingdoms. He came to seek and save the lost.
Therefore, where religion used control and rules to try to keep people in line, Jesus came to lift people up and show them real Truth and Light and Love.
Because of that, His Kingdom is based on:
Calling and not Competence.
Celebration and not Condemnation
Mercy and not Merit.
He calls us not because we are competent or have earned it but because of His love for us. We get to celebrate with Him! The highest form of acceptance in that culture was to eat with someone. The most used image of heaven is a wedding feast! We get to feast with Jesus who came down to earth…..heaven came down to earth….we should have great joy! We are called, forgiven and free!
“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.”.....”I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” from Matthew 9:11-13
