"Highly focused people do not leave their options open. They select their priorities and are comfortable ignoring the rest. If you commit to nothing, you’ll be distracted by everything."
James Clear, Author of Atomic Habits
I will add my own 2 cents here :)
Focus can be different for each person, but the choice to honor your priorities is all yours.
If I prioritize people over my plans, then that is going to look like my plans changing to meet the needs of people. I have sometimes allowed my plans (aka checklist) to override the person in front of me. When I began to honor my priorities, then I had to allow my plans to shift.
And guess what? I don’t remember the plans. But I do remember the people.
I am trying to learn to apply this more to my plans, though, when a person doesn’t need my attention. What things am I allowing to distract me and how can I better commit to what I truly want to see happen?
