Good morning!
In my Hallelujah Habits group I have been talking about the mind and how we can use our mind to change our brain and body. It is such a fascinating topic to me! I have spent so many hours going deep into the understanding of this and I am only on the surface.
Our mind is the place where we generate thoughts and we have the ability to change those thoughts with our mind. We have such a unique perspective as humans that we can step back and look at our thoughts and change them by directing our minds to do so!
An interesting study was done that looked at the difference between one group of people who praised and worshiped God vs doing nothing. Brain scans showed lots of changes in various parts of the brain and how the brain’s circuits work. The praise and worship group had, among other benefits, less of a fear response in the amygdala. They were able to decrease the deleterious effects of the fight or flight response and all that wreaks havoc on the body.
Friday, I will talk more about this topic, but for now, read this Psalm and look at how the psalmist directs us to praise God with our soul i.e. our mind/will/emotions. Seems he was onto something way back then!
Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. Psalm 103:1
